Responsibilities: Makes daily rounds on the unit in order to observe and evaluate physical and emotional status of nursing residents Provides comprehensive oversight to unit staff to assure nursing care is proved according to physician's orders. Job Description Provides direct patient care, coordinates treatment plans, and collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to ensure quality outcomes. Maintains clinical documentation, adheres to safety protocols, and supports patient education and advocacy. Job Function 1: Patient Assessment; Perform systematic, comprehensive, and accurate assessments. Assess potential discharge needs during the initial assessment process. Monitor effects of medications and treatments and report adverse effects in a timely manner. Assess patient for pain level. Provide appropriate intervention, reassessment, and documentation. Systematically monitor the maintenance of protocols, standards, and plans of care. Plans and provides individualized patient education. Job Function 2: Demonstrate competent clinical skills. Perform nursing-related skills and activities competently. Analyze situations critically. Maintain complete and accurate documentation. Identify and document realistic long and short-term goals. Complete interdisciplinary plan of care record. Participate in interdisciplinary rounds. Evaluate the effectiveness of interventions and revise the plan of care as needed. Recognize and evaluate patient and family responses to therapies and nursing interventions. Job Function 3: Communicate clearly and effectively with all members of the healthcare team. Complete hand-off communication and give complete reports to other caregivers. Job Function 4: Demonstrate critical thinking and time management skills necessary for effective patient care. Assume responsibility and accountability for the safe nursing care of assigned patients. Delegate responsibilities appropriately to others. Job Function 5: Adhere to OSHA, Joint Commission, Standards of Nursing Practice supported by NJ BON, professional association, ANA Code of Ethics & Scope of Standards and Practice NJ Board of Health, and hospital standards. Use two patient identifiers and check allergies before medication administration. Follow hand washing protocols and maintain isolation precautions. Properly use and store equipment, checking expiration dates. Demonstrate leadership and function as a resource/mentor. Actively participates in Shared Governance. Qualifications Education : BSN preferred. Education must be obtained from an accredited institution. Experience: 2 -3 years of ED Experience or Acute Care Experience Certificates BLS required ACLS will be required prior to completing ED orientation PALS to be completed within one year of hire date except for pediatrics.
