Summary Under the direction of the Division of Neonatology, the Neonatal Physician Assistant (NPA) & Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP) provides medical management of neonatal patients with a variety of diagnoses in the Children’s Hospital of The King’s Daughters (CHKD) Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) or other locations at CHKD or in contracted facilities where NICU and/or general nursery patients are cared for. Overview This is a position for a Medical Assistant with the EVMS Ear, Nose and Throat Surgeons. Under direct supervision this position will assist with clinical assignments for assigned care teams within the Department. Responsibilities Chart preparations- i.e.: reviews the last clinic note, gathers test results and other pertinent data relevant to visit, loads images, documents recent surgeries in Allscripts, scanning, filing, recording of patient information, surgical packet preparation i.e.: pre/postoperative care instructions and education per department protocol Responsible for timely communication of patient needs and requests by providing appropriate follow-up for patients i.e.: medical imaging requests, cardiac or medical clearance, medication and prior authorizations, allergy testing or treatments, scheduling of patient appointments, transmission of laboratory orders, completion of FMLA and other disability documents Completes delegated tasks from the current and prior day i.e.: patient messages, prescription refills, lab results, referrals, home health agency requests, medication prior authorizations, patient forms, and physician follow-up. Nurse Manager I

Overview The Nurse Manager is responsible for management of clinical services of the Minimally Invasive Gynecology Surgery (MIGS) Division, within the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology (OBGYN). The Nurse Manager works closely with the MIGS Division Director, MIGS Practice Manager, and Department Administrator to develop, implement, and maintain clinical programs that enhance the quality of care and achieve a high level of patient and provider satisfaction. The Nurse Manager is primarily responsible for the day-to-day clinical operations and oversight of the MIGS Division in both Norfolk, Virginia Beach and Williamsburg. The Nurse Manager provides direction and manages professional employees and is accountable for the performance and results of a team within the framework of the OBGYN Department and EVMS Medical Group. Responsibilities Position will be actively involved in daily clinical support functions to ensure the delivery of quality healthcare. These functions will include hands on support and oversight within the MIGS clinical operations at the Norfolk, Virginia Beach and Williamsburg locations, to include nursing, provider, and patient support and coordination throughout the day. Responsible for the tracking, trending, and auditing of daily and monthly clinical performance related to operational metrics and quality measures, ensuring the team is working within their scope of practice and meeting all associated metrics.Provide direct supervision of assigned MIGS clinical staff. Responsible for talent identification, hiring, onboarding, and training for new team members. Responsible for coordination and distribution of clinical staff assignments and schedules. Demonstrate critical thinking skills needed for maintaining optimum clinical care and effective clinical workflow when faced with operational challenges such as provider and staffing shortages, emergency scheduling issues, electronic health record and telephone outages and other variables that frequently present within the clinical environment. Identify gaps in performance of staff and provide counseling, training or performance improvement plans as needed. Develop measurable metrics to ensure performance standards are being met. Medical Assistant

Overview The Department of OBGYN at Macon & Joan Brock Virginia Health Sciences at Old Dominion University is seeking an outstanding Medical Assistan t to join the team. This position is responsible for front and back office procedures. This position also assists Physicians and Advanced Practice Providers with medical examination of patients. Responsibilities Takes vital signs such as height, weight, temperature, and blood pressure and enters into EHR. May draw blood and give injections under the immediate supervision of a Physician or RN. Reviews intake forms with the MD/NP/PA when needed to determine what services best suit the patient. Manages specimens that are being picked up and drop off. Chaperones when appropriate and assists during certain minor surgeries and diagnostic procedures (such as Hysteroscopies). Maintains a clean and sterile environment in the examination rooms and triage area. Ensuring all rooms are stocked with medical supplies, as well as, clean and sterilized instruments. Dispose of contaminated supplies and medical instruments. Inventories and reorders supplies as needed. Prepare education packets. Check EMR tasks daily and document patient’s chart. Complete drug refills as directed. Change wound dressings. Assists with scheduling conflicts. Explain treatments and procedures to patients. Answers incoming telephone calls and refers calls as necessary. Also responsible for taking messages, paging doctors when appropriate, handling hospital consults, and answering inquiries. Greets patients in a courteous manner, marks off names as patients arrive, and notifies nurses/medical assistants/MDs of arrivals. Prepares charts for the next day; creates new patient charts, files and pulls charts and checks charts for referrals and authorization prior to visit. Also prepares charge tickets. Checks-in and checks-out patients, obtains and writes referrals, when appropriately trained and directed, and schedules outside appointments with specialists. Ensures that appropriate data is obtained (labs, medical records and clinic notes from referring Provider’s office) prior to the appointment. Performs other duties as assigned, according to the individual departmental needs; OB/GYN, MIGS, and Urogynecology.
