Overview About the Role The Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) is a skilled health provider who through a written collaborative practice agreement with a physician is credentialed through the Medical Staff Office. As a member of the Medical Staff the APN demonstrates standards of professional practice that includes ethical decision making, job activities related to quality assessment/improvement, self-evaluation, leadership, and research. Completes the medication reconciliation process by documenting the current list of medications (including over the counter and nutritional supplements) taken by patient at each visit. Performs and documents an appropriate comprehensive physical assessment of patients which will include a review of systems, evaluation of manifestations and toxicities related to medical conditions and anticoagulation management. In collaboration with the physician, critically analyzes the assessment data/diagnostic tests and determines a diagnosis. In addition, develops a comprehensive plan of care that includes interventions of treatments to attain outcomes. Evaluates patient progress in attaining expected treatment outcomes. Monitors for signs and symptoms related to disease progression/recurrence. Appropriately manages medical and anticoagulation management emergencies according to protocol/policy. Qualifications What You’ll Bring Required: Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing with a current license to practice in the State of New Jersey/BSN preferred. BLS required. Preferred: Two years’ experience in Maternal – Child; Obstetrical and Gynecological specialties preferred, having worked in an Ambulatory Care Service/outpatient care setting, preferred. Responsibilities The primary purpose of the Staff Nurse (Circulating/Scrub) position is to be accountable for achieving patient goals through creating and maintaining a safe environment for the patient undergoing procedures while anesthetized or sedated. The role of the circulating RN is patient centered, and is essential for timely delivery of quality care and optimal patient outcomes in collaboration with other healthcare professionals. The OR nurse provides high quality nursing care through patient assessment, diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation and evaluation. Using sound nursing judgment, critical thinking skills, and interpersonal communication skills, the RN is able to ensure positive patient outcomes. The Peri-operative Circulator/Scrub RN is knowledgeable in AORN Standards of Practice, ANA Standards of Practice, JCAHO Standards, National Patient Safety Goals/Sentinel Event Alerts, Patient Bill of Rights and State Department of Health Standards. This role is a member of the surgical team and performs/behaves in accordance with expectations set by the team and Perioperative leadership.
