The Licensed Practical Nurse - Allergy will provide a high level of general care and education to patients by using their knowledge and skills to promote the goal of The Ultimate Patient Experience. Licensed Practical Nurse - Allergy Promote a professional and welcoming atmosphere to enhance the quality of service and care offered to patients and for respective provider(s). Provide general care and education to patients in accordance with OSHA regulations. Administer prescribed medications and treatments, including allergy shots, under the direct or indirect supervision from a provider. Prepare necessary supplies for allergy testing and treatments. Perform lung function testing (FeNO and Spirometry) with and without bronchodilators. Assist in the interpretation of patch testing results and perform placement and removal as directed by an RN or provider. Maintain the immunotherapy room with necessary supplies and materials, ensuring cleanliness. Administer allergy shots and ensuring provider is on site. Observes, records and reports patients’ vitals and reactions to treatments. Assesses patients’ needs and suggest solutions to patient care problems. Supervise triaging of patient communications (through email and/or portal). Maintains accurate patient records, document all visits in EMR. Assures patient stays for required observation time after injections. Learn and perform immunotherapy vial mixing procedures and proper documentation in accordance with current regulations. Reacts appropriately in patient reaction situations, informs physician and/or other clinical staff as necessary to mitigate adverse reactions. Assist providers in recording prescribed treatments, medications, lab requisitions, prescriptions, prior authorization (including biologics), and procedures within established guidelines. Understand provider to patient flow and anticipate provider’s next steps to the best of their ability. Demonstrate clinical competence and sound knowledge base in the provision of quality patient care. Ensure allergy test sets and emergency kits are filled, current, and up to date. Confirm that insurance benefits have been verified prior to the preparation of allergy serums. Regularly interact with physicians, other providers, and staff to identify and resolve problems. Maintain knowledge of trends and developments in the field by reading appropriate articles, journals, and related materials; and by attending seminars and conferences as needed. Report improperly operating medical equipment and instruments to the supervisor. Perform inventory responsibilities, including but not limited to, ordering and stocking of supplies and equipment as requested. Qualifications Previous Allergy experience required. Graduate from an LPN education program approved by the respective state Education Department. Pass the NCLEX-PN examination. Active LPN license in the state working in required. CPR and AED Certifications required. Experience using EMR software and patient scheduling systems. Must be computer savvy and familiar with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills. Excellent patient relations and customer service skills. Open availability to work during weekdays. Working knowledge of HIPAA & OSHA compliance. Description A Registered Nurse Practitioner engaged to work on an as-needed basis for patient care delivery. Responsibilities Principal Duties and Responsibilities 1. Clinical Practice a. Develops and implements a collaborative practice agreement in the specific clinical area and performs a periodic review of the collaborative agreement. b. Assesses the health status of patients/families by means of comprehensive health history and physical examination. c. Documents findings and plan of care in the patient's medical record. f. Consults with physician as established in the collaborative practice agreement. g. Initiates referrals to specialty services and fosters continuity of care. h. Performs a patient record review with the collaborating physician in a timely fashion but not less than every three months j. The establishment of Collaborative Practice Agreement Chapter 257 of the Laws of 1988 of New York State which took effect April 1, 1989, authorizes Nurse Practitioners certified by the State Education Department to use the title "Nurse Practitioner" [for Nurse Practitioner job description, see appendix] and engage in the expanded practice of nursing, which may include the performance of primary health care services and the issuance of prescriptions. Practice agreements and practice protocols must be established and maintained in the practice settings of the Nurse Practitioner and collaborating physician where they shall be available to the Department for inspection. 2. Practice Protocols Practice protocols shall identify the area of practice to be performed by the Nurse Practitioner in collaboration with the physician and shall reflect accepted standards of nursing and medical practice. Protocols shall include provisions for case management including diagnosis, treatment, and appropriate recordkeeping by the Nurse Practitioner; and may include such other provisions as are determined by the Nurse Practitioner and collaborating physician to be appropriate. These protocols will be determined by area of specialty. 3. Practice Agreements Practice agreements shall include provisions for the following: a. Patient Assignment Patients are assigned to the Nurse Practitioner or physician according to the needs of the patient. b. Diagnostic Tests Laboratory tests may be ordered according to the initial work-up guidelines found in the reference protocol. Collaboration is not necessary for routine diagnostic procedures. However, consultation and documentation should be completed before more extensive tests are ordered, e.g., nuclear medicine tests, MRI, CT scan, IVP, etc. c. Consultation Nurse Practitioners consult with and refer patients to subspecialty clinics as needed. d. Prescriptive Practice Nurse Practitioners prescribe medications according to the New York State Laws and Regulations for prescription writing and record-keeping (see Appendix). e. Charting Nurse Practitioners are responsible for documenting findings, consultations and plans of care in the patients' medical records. Position Summary Provide wound, ostomy, and continence (WOC) nursing in the prevention, health maintenance, therapeutic intervention, and rehabilitative and palliative nursing care to persons with select disorders of the gastrointestinal, genitourinary, and integumentary systems. Directs efforts to improve quality of care to individuals of all ages directly through hands on care and indirectly as educators and consultation services. Education Current/valid state of NJ RN license (or legal permission to work from the NJ Board of Nursing). Completion of an accredited Wound Ostomy Continence Nursing (WOCN) full scope specialty education program with subsequent board certification in WOC from Wound, Ostomy, and Continence certification board (WOCNCB). Maintain recertification every (5) five years. Completion of general nursing orientation, CPR certification and unit-based orientation. BLS Required from American Heart Association. Responsibilities The Registered Nurse—Intensive Care Unit is responsible for delivery of patient care through the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Qualifications Job Requirements: Associate’s Degree in Nursing. Minimum of 1+ years’ experience as an RN in a hospital PACU or Critical Care Unit. Current valid NJ State professional Registered Nurse license. ACLS (obtainable within the first three months of employment). PALS (obtainable within the first three months of employment). Successful completion of a Basic Arrhythmia Training. BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care. Preferred Job Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing. Experience with Epic Rate of pay is determined based on experience and education and may include other pay components such as differentials and call pay based on role.
