Overview Kelemen 10 is a medical-surgical unit that cares for patients who have various needs and disease processes. Both North and South 10 have Telemetry capabilities for our patients. Each side houses 36 patients to a maximum of 72 patients. South 10 has a 12-bed Intermediate Care Unit embedded within the 36-bed unit. INCU has critically care-trained RNs who support the patient's needs and care for ventilated patients. South 10 also has 2 negative pressure isolation rooms with an anti-room that is used when needed for specific isolation needs. We do multidisciplinary rounds Monday – Friday. This involves the patient in their care and allows the team members to collaborate with the patient to give them the best possible care and appropriate discharge to home or other facilities. We have a pharmacist who has an office on the unit to assist the RNs when needed to help avoid delay of care to any patient. Education Requirements Graduate of NLN accredited School of Nursing. License/Certification Requirements Current NJ-RN License (Registered Nurse). Current NJ-BLS Certification (Basic Life Support). Job Summary Responsible for supervision of nursing staff on the assigned shift, the nursing care provided and related administrative and professional nursing activities. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Clinical Available to offer direct and indirect clinical support as needed. Coordinate the admission process as needed. 11-7 Shift: Responsible for conducting all aspects of admission process including insurance pre-certification, etc. Direct responsibility for discharge summary process. Administrative Responsible for supervision of nursing staff on the assigned shift. Makes rounds to all nursing units twice per shift. Obtains shift report from nursing units and relays pertinent information to the next shift. Completes staff performance evaluations. Responsible for staffing schedules and daily unit staffing. Interacts with managed care and all insurance entities as necessary. Enters admissions, discharges, transfers and service changes in the Hospital Information System. Activates fire and disaster plans. Reviews staff timecards in EZ Labor and time accruals for accuracy. Works with Security to ensure safety of patients and staff. Oversees emergencies. Facilitates 302 petitions and emergency transfers. Completes supervisory report and checks 24-hour census for accuracy. Other Duties and Responsibilities: Responsible for attending and ensuring that all staff members participate in mandated training. Other related duties as assigned by the Director of Nursing.
