Responsibilities This role supports physicians and clinical staff by performing a variety of administrative and clinical tasks to ensure efficient patient flow and high-quality care. Key Responsibilities: Prepare exam rooms and assist providers with patient examinations and minor procedures. Record patient medical histories, vital signs, and chief complaints accurately in the electronic medical record (EMR). Apply and remove orthopedic devices such as splints, braces, and casts under provider supervision. Provide patient education on preoperative and post-operative care, and medication instructions. There is a high emphasis on patient/family education on this unit, as we are transitioning patients from ICU level care to home and families need to learn how to care for their child's complex care needs in the home setting. The NICU provides highly technical care, including cardiac, respiratory, and hemodynamic monitoring, as well as ventilator support for neonates requiring specialized intervention. Orientation for new staff in the NICU follows a Competency-Based Orientation (CBO) model, including an online didactic component.
