Key Responsibilities Interview patients to obtain medical information and measure their vital signs, weight, and height. Record patients' medical history, vital statistics, and information such as test results in medical records. Collect blood, tissue, or other laboratory specimens; log and document specimens; and prepare them for testing. Assist physicians in examining and treating patients by handing them instruments and materials. Give injections and remove sutures as directed. Prepare treatment rooms for patient examinations, including cleaning and restocking. Clean and sterilize instruments and dispose of contaminated supplies. Provide phone consultation with clients regarding test results and health concerns. Process blood and other specimens, ensuring all specimens are properly labeled and packaged for lab pickup. Perform phlebotomy and other diagnostic tests as needed. Administer oral, intramuscular, SubQ, and topical medications as ordered. Ensure proper documentation of patient care. Maintain exam room supplies, check stock for expired dates, and change sharps containers and biohazard waste as needed. Assist with programs such as the Hazard Communication and Accident Prevention plans associated with OSHA compliance. Participate in the Performance Improvement Program.
