The Experienced Clinical Nurse at MD Anderson Cancer Center manages patient outcomes by providing, coordinating and supporting clinical aspects of direct patient care across the continuum of care. They impact quality of patient care, patient outcomes and use of resources in a designated area in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, an RN license and at least twelve months of recent RN experience in medical/surgical or an acute care setting. The candidate must be available to work the Day/Evening shift (7am - 7pm), with rotating weekends and holidays required. G22 IMU is a specialized intermediate care unit providing advanced monitoring and treatment for oncology patients who require a higher level of care than a general medical unit but do not need intensive care. Nurses on this unit manage complex therapies, monitor for complications, and provide education and emotional support to patients and families. Location: Moody Outpatient Center 3rd Floor Work Schedule - Monday - Friday Shift - 8 am to 5 pm (Days) Full Time PRIMARY PURPOSE The RN is a licensed professional who uses the Parkland nursing professional practice model to coordinate patient care delivery, that focuses on a particular patient population(s)/specific health conditions, by the health care team. Using the nursing process, the RN assesses the patient, identifies nursing diagnoses based on responses to health problems, develops and implements an individualized plan of care, and evaluates the patient's response. The RN utilizes knowledge of patient needs and the healthcare environment to assist patients to transition through the healthcare encounter without any preventable complications or delays. Collaborates with wound care, stoma and ENT nurses for performing wound, colostomy and tracheotomy care as directed. Effectively manages triage for patient/family/other internal and external health care professionals to navigate the health care system with nursing supervision. Seeks and utilizes direction from more experienced staff and team members as needed. May work with other staff in providing direction to non-nursing staff. Participates in information exchanges with nursing and other Parkland staff that support the standards, missions, goals, and objectives of Oncology Services and the institution. Identifies ways to improve work process and improve patient and customer satisfaction. Makes recommendations to supervisor, implements and monitors results as appropriate in support of the overall goals of cancer services and the institution.
