Responsibilities We are actively hiring for an Registered Nurse (RN) PreOp PACU. Promote the mission, vision, and values of SCA . Assess patient’s preoperative and postoperative status at intervals according to facility or health care organization policies and procedures to include the patient’s cardiovascular system, respiratory system and airway management needs, neurological system, hemodynamic stability, pain and comfort needs, and mental status. Interpret information accurately from various noninvasive and invasive monitors. Describe the underlying pathophysiology of commonly encountered disease processes. Describe the physiology associated with various anesthesia techniques and surgical or procedural interventions. Apply the relevant scoring system/discharge criteria for patient transfer ( e.g. , Aldrete Score, Modified Aldrete Score [ i.e. , PARSAP], Post Anesthesia Discharge Scoring System [PADSS], White) score accurately as defined by organizational policy. Develop an individualized perianesthesia plan of care. Implement the plan of care including the following interventions: Preparing for and managing patient recovery from anesthesia – general. Preparing for and managing patient recovery from anesthesia – monitored anesthesia care. Preparing for and managing patient recovery from anesthesia – regional. Preparing for and managing patient recovery from anesthesia – local. Preparing for and protecting patient from injury caused by positioning, thermal sources, and extraneous objects. Description The Offsite Medical Assistant I Provides clinical office support to Physicians & Surgeons and performs patient care and administrative duties necessary to deliver quality patient care. Responsibilities Fulfills patient care responsibilities as assigned which may include: checking schedules and organizing patient flow; accompanying patients to exam/procedure room, assisting patients as needed with walking, transferring, dressing, collecting and processing specimens and point of care testing, preparing for exam, etc. Assists physicians with various procedures, takes vital signs, relays instructions to patients and or families; answers calls and provides pertinent information. Fulfills clerical responsibilities as assigned which may include: sending and receiving patient medical records; obtaining lab/x-ray reports, hospital notes, referral information, etc. Completing forms and requisitions as needed, managing charts to ensure information is completed and filed appropriately. These responsibilities may be carried out using the electronic medical record (EMR) system or manually as necessary. Enters orders into the electronic medical record (EMR) system or prepares prescription refill requests on behalf of the physician for the review and approval by the ordering physician. Inventories, orders or re-stocks medical supplies as applicable. Provides set-up of examination room and instruments in accordance with proper sterilization techniques established by hospital and infection control policies. Maintains logging system as required for refrigeration of medications, point of care testing, sterilization process, crash cart, point of care testing or others as needed. Checks expiration dates on all medications and medical supplies disposing appropriately as per institution policy. Applies warm & cold compresses, consistent with facility procedure; Performs irrigations, consistent with Facility procedure; Performs other procedures related to skin care, as necessary. * Administers medications correctly and safely Correctly identifies medication: action; dosage; side effects and implications for the patient; Meets standard on medication administration examination; Demonstrates preparation of local solutions; Demonstrates preparation of I.V drips; Administers and documents medication correctly; Administers IVP medication as per department policy and procedure; Educates patients and significant others related to drug and food interactions. * Participates in patient and family education Provides the patient with an explanation of his/her condition as indicated; Communicates assessment data in an orderly fashion by recording, updating and verbalizing pertinent information to care team members and to appropriate agencies; Recognizes and utilizes health teaching opportunities and resources /materials available for this teaching; Provides for early discharge planning and appropriate referrals for post-hospital care; Evaluates the effectiveness of teaching by feedback from patient/family and documents same. Performs related duties, as required. ADA Essential Functions Job Qualification Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing. Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, preferred. Must be enrolled in an accredited program within 24 months of employment, if hired after January 1, 2013 and obtain a BSN Degree within five (5) years of employment date. Current license to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State. BLS required. Documented Operating Room experience required. On Call Required.
