The Float Pool RN is part of a resource team that is assigned to varying units during their shift to ensure that patient care needs are met. These RNs possess the skills, competency, and qualifications, as well as a requirement to work in several different clinical areas. This group shall be known as the Float Pool. These employees are a part of Patient Care Services. There are three RN teams in the float Pool, RN Team 1, Specialty Track/ CCU, RN Team 2, Inpatient Acute, and RN Team 3, Women' Services. QUALIFICATIONS Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required. 4 Year/Bachelor's Degree preferred - BSN preferred. Experience: Team 1 (Specialty/CCU): Minimum of 2 years in critical care or ED setting required. Team 2 (Inpatient Acute): Minimum of1 year general medical surgical/telemetry experience required. Team 3 (Women's Services): Minimum of 2 years in Labor and Delivery, Postpartum, or NICU required. All teams require Cardiac Dysrhythmia test or successful completion of the Cardiac Dysrhythmia course within 6 months of hire. Refer to the Life Support Training Policy for additional details. Assists in critical situations including administering CPR. Administers and evaluates medication therapies, performs patient transfers, and transports patients via wheelchair, hospital bed, or stretcher to other departments.
