Reports all injuries (patient or staff) using event reporting system. Monitors effects of medications and reports adverse effects in a timely manner. Demonstrates knowledge of policies and procedures, including but not limited to knowledge and skill of emergency equipment and procedures. Identifies and reports all risk management issues in a timely manner. Responsible for phone management of patients. Triages phone calls utilizing critical thinking and assessment skills to evaluate the chief complaint and urgency of the problem. Triages phone calls to determine acuity to assist in scheduling appointments. Provides comprehensive medical record documentation. Documents all communications and maintains patient confidentiality. Participates in and/or organizes regular practice huddles, communicates effectively with team members and physicians; actively listens and seeks feedback. Collaborates with team members to solve problems and resolve conflicts. Functions as a resource/mentor and provides support to team members to resolve patient care and team concerns/issues. Utilizes standard precautions including, appropriate isolation techniques. Consistently follows the Ambulatory Health Care National Patient Safety Goals. Through the model of Shared Governance, collaborates with all members of the health care team with a focus on promoting evidence-based care within a healing culture for the patient population served and their families. Description Job Title- Nurse Practitioner-Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Unit- Mount Sinai Hospital - Full Time - Night A nurse practitioner (NP) as described in Title VIII, Article 139 section 6910 of the New York Education Law is a RN who has earned a separate certification as an NP through advanced clinical nursing education in a distinct specialty area of practice. Nurse practitioners are independent practitioners who diagnose, treat, and prescribe for a patients condition that falls within their specialty area of practice. NOTE: Medical orders, progress notes and treatments plans are not required to be countersigned by a physician.
