The Supervisor of Heart Care provides clinical supervision to nurses and medical assistants in the cardiology and vascular clinics. The role supports the Clinic Administrator with daily clinical oversight of back‑office operations and intervenes as necessary to redirect, guide, or counsel staff in the delivery of patient care services. The Supervisor ensures that direct patient care is delivered in accordance with established standards of care and hospital and unit policies, procedures, and guidelines. Primary Duties: Provides oversight of clinic nurses and medical assistants to ensure patient care is provided within established guidelines. Ensures appropriate clinic staffing and assignments. Continually evaluates patient flow and provides intervention to facilitate patient care in an optimal timeline. Anticipates problems and obstacles in clinic settings and applies appropriate problem solving skills to prevent or reduce delay in patient care. Assesses, plans, implements and evaluates patient care in a collaborative manner with the patient and patient’s family, significant other and members of the health care team. Oversees medication reconciliation, medical supply ordering and various checklists. Takes vital signs, completes electronic medical record (EMR) subjective, reviews and edits patient social and medical history. Reviews and updates health maintenance and administers medications. Responsible for medication management within the clinic. Performs EKG’s and other procedures as appropriate per scope of practice. Facilitates care coordination including referrals, follow-up and health maintenance. Implements and monitors the clinic care protocols. Oversees hiring and training of RN’s and Medical assistants. Responsible for yearly performance evaluations and clinical staff competencies. Responsible for completing timely reports for quality control, audits and JCAHO compliance for clinic best practice. Responsible for investigating SafelinQ events, providing feedback to staff and Clinic Administrator. Communicate effectively all relevant information (e.g., patient information, safety issues, problems with equipment, quality issues, etc) to immediate supervisor. Performs other duties as assigned. License, Certification, Education or Experience: REQUIRED for the position: Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Washington Bachelor’s in nursing, (BSN) required within 5 years of employment if applicable 5 years of previous RN experience Currently certified in BLS and ACLS. May obtain ACLS within 6 months of date of hire.
