The unit frequently cares for patients with respiratory issues (with respiratory therapy available on the floor), drug and alcohol withdrawal, GI bleeds, altered mental status, sepsis, and congestive heart failure (CHF). Nurses manage a high-acuity patient population requiring frequent blood product administration, intravenous access, and close monitoring. The Allegheny General 6C Telemetry Unit is a 30 bed unit providing specialized care for Medical Telemetry, General Medicine, and Internal Medicine patients. The unit cares for patients transitioning from higher levels of care, typically the stepdown unit.
