Job Description Summary One-year fellowship focuses on clinical experiences as well as a robust didactic curriculum, to provide well-rounded education intended to fully prepare an APP for a full-time position in specialty areas. Primary fellowship role is dependent on specialty area (see below) and may include opportunities to learn in various settings (i.e., inpatient, OR, clinic, ICU) and work towards clinically relevant competencies and procedural competencies as applicable. The Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (PCICU) is an 18 bed unit that specializes in the care of children with complex congenital cardiac disease. Surgical procedures include repair of congenital heart defects and permanent pacemaker insertion. Medical interventions include management of acute/chronic heart failure, septic shock, renal and respiratory failure. Critically ill children are cared for with such treatment modalities as mechanical ventilation, inhaled nitric oxide, ventricular assist devices, temporary pacemaker therapy, peritoneal dialysis, continuous renal replacement therapy and acute hemodialysis. The Nurse Practitioner will act as a full member of the team taking responsibility for the safe delivery of care in collaboration with attending physicians, fellows and residents. This team member will meet productivity expectations as set forth by the Division Chief, performing any duties related to patient care activities that are appropriate and clearly delineated.
