Description Northwestern Medicine has an exciting opportunity for either a Nurse Practitioner or a Physician Assistant to work in our Inpatient Oncology / Hospital Medicine department. The APP works one on one with an MD (either an oncologist or a hospitalist) to serve as the primary care provider for the patient in the hospital. This involves work up of general medicine problems (DVT, PE, infection, pulmonary, cardiac, nephrology, neurology, endocrine disorders etc), chemotherapy administration monitoring, chemotherapy and immunotherapy related toxicities, complications of malignancy, end of life care and supportive care needs. Several other APPs are on the service each day. This position is all inpatient Schedule: M-F, 12-hour shifts; required to work one in four weekends and 2 holidays/year; no nights Essential Functions : Demonstrates clinical expertise and expanded knowledge through patient care activities which may include diagnosis and management of a wide range of health problems. Responsible for health outcome of an assigned patient population. Confers with collaborating physician and other health professionals in area of clinical expertise.
