Department Overview The Midwest Children's Resource Center provides medical diagnosis, psychological assessment, and treatment for children and their families affected by physical abuse, sexual abuse, or neglect. In addition, they are available for telephone consultation 24/7 for child protection, law enforcement agencies, physicians, therapists, attorneys, and concerned parent. They offer training, internships, and fellowhips for physicians, advanced practice nurses, and professionals interested in expanding their knowledge and skill in medical evaluation, interviewing children, psychological assessment, and treating abused children. Position Summary This position provides specialized medical consultation, evaluation, and care for children and adolescents with concerns related to child maltreatment. Key responsibilities include: * Providing phone consultation and triage for caregivers, medical providers, and community professionals. * Conducting medical evaluations, including video-recorded histories, for suspected victims of child maltreatment. * Collecting physical evidence in acute cases of sexual assault or abuse involving children and adolescents. * Providing medical evaluations and ongoing care for adolescents in youth shelter settings. * Coordinating care with a multidisciplinary team. * Occasionally providing testimony in legal proceedings. Schedule and Work Location This is a 0.9 FTE position with day hours. The role is primarily based in the MCRC outpatient clinic in St. Paul. On-Call Coverage and Travel The position includes on-call coverage during nights, weekends, and holidays. On-call responsibilities may involve evaluating acute presentations of physical and sexual abuse at both Children’s campuses.The role also requires travel to youth shelters one to three times per week to provide health education and reproductive health care. Education: * Master's degree from an accredited college. * Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program. License/Certification/Registration: * Current Minnesota RN/APRN Licensure. * Current Nurse Practitioner certification in specialty area. Position Summary The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) will practice as an independent clinician while working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary care team. This role is responsible for the direct care and clinical management of pediatric patients at our St. Paul and Minneapolis Emergency Department locations. APPs in the pediatric emergency department practice to the full scope of their licensure within a team-based model that includes both independent patient visits and shared visits alongside an attending physician. Key Responsibilities Assess, diagnose, treat, and manage pediatric patients presenting with a wide range of acute and traumatic conditions Obtain histories, perform physical exams, order and interpret diagnostic tests, and implement treatment plans Prescribe medications and therapeutic interventions appropriate to the patient population Collaborate with attending physicians, pediatric specialists, and the interdisciplinary care team to deliver safe, efficient, high-quality care Schedule Requirements We are open to a range of 0.8 to 1.0 FTE, depending on candidate interest and program needs. Rotating schedule that includes weekends and holidays The Children's Emergency departments, located in Minneapolis and St. Paul, are staffed 24 hours-a-day by board-eligible or board-certified pediatric emergency physicians and by nurses with specialized education in pediatric emergency medicine. Each facility is designed to support short-stay needs, coordinate pediatric and neonatal care transport, assault and abuse services, access to pediatric specialists, and emergency telephone consultation and referral. The Advanced Practice Provider provides care to the patient which is delivered during the antepartum periods. High risk patients are cared for in consultation and collaboration with the medical team. The practice setting for the APP-II will be in the Family Birth Center Triage/OB Emergency Department with the focus on enhancement of clinical care, patient satisfaction, and safety. Essential Functions Clinical Practice: The CNM/NP provides clinical services and management of mothers and babies as defined in the standing orders, policies, procedures and protocols for the APP. Performs physical exams, collects and documents data, manages labor and spontaneous delivery, conducts diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, orders and schedules laboratory studies and professional consultations, and prescribes appropriate interventions and medications. Formulates and implements prenatal, intrapartum, postpartum, newborn and inter-conceptional care as defined by midwifery scope of practice. Communication/Consultation: Role models advanced practice professional nursing through conduct, appearance, communication, mutual respect, leadership, ethical decision-making, critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Job Description​ The APP will be responsible for the medical management of the hospitalized patient population within the scope of an Advanced Practice Provider. The term Advanced Practice Provider encompasses Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants, and Clinical Nurse Specialists. The employee will have successfully completed a Master’s degree (or higher level of educational program) and have met the requirements for the respective State Board(s) (Missouri and Kansas). The APP will hold and maintain a national certification and licensure as required by State Boards and Saint Luke’s Health System, as well as other certification as obligatory for this role. The PRN Hospitalist APP works 12 hours shifts overnight at the Saint Luke's Plaza and Saint Luke's locations. Weekend and holiday requirements with this role. This position is accountable for advanced clinical practice in the care of patients with general medical conditions, requiring acute inpatient treatment. Responsibilities include obtaining and analyzing patient histories, performing comprehensive assessments, developing and implementing treatment plans, coordinating care, and collaborating with physicians and interdisciplinary team members to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
