These positions will support our Iowa City (Corridor) and Quad Cities locations . Our Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioners (ARNPs) perform direct patient care, including diagnostic and therapeutic services within our Walk-in Clinics. UI Walk-in Clinics provide care to try to save our patients a trip to the emergency room. We’re open evenings, weekends, and even some holidays. The ARNP will also assist in educating healthcare students, as they rotate through the respective departments and divisions and will assist in research endeavors as appropriate. Characteristic Duties And Responsibilities Provide care responsibilities in both our QuickCare and Urgent Care Clinics, will rotate clinical sites. Urgent Care requires at least 6 months of prior experience. Obtain medical history and perform physical examination. Assess, assist, diagnose and treat medical or surgical problems and record findings. Perform or assist in and interpret the performance of laboratory and related studies. Perform therapeutic procedures such as injections, immunizations, the suturing and care of wounds, removal of foreign bodies, ear and eye irrigation and other clinical procedures. Assist in arranging for continued care such as but not limited to: transfer to the Emergency Treatment Center; follow-up care or establishment of care with a primary care provider; and/or follow-up consultations (including referrals to appropriate specialty and subspecialty physicians as indicated by patients’ problems). Perform and screen results of special medical exams including but not limited to electrocardiogram, radiography, audiometric and vision screening, tonometry, and pulmonary function screening tests. Instruct and counsel patients regarding physical and mental health on matters such as diets, disease, therapy, and normal growth and development. Evaluate, treat and institute procedures essential to providing an appropriate response to urgent medical problems.
