About the Role We are currently looking for an experienced Medical Assistant to join our team. The Medical Assistant is a key component of our care team and works closely with a primary care physician to deliver excellent patient care and provide an exceptional guest experience to our patients. Because of our unique model, our Medical Assistants oversee the full spectrum of the patient experience- acting both as a Medical Receptionist as well as assuming clinical responsibilities of a Medical Assistant. Essential Duties and Responsibilities The following duties and responsibilities generally reflect the expectations of this position but are not intended to be all-inclusive. Escorts patients to room and ensures that exam rooms are thoroughly cleaned and stocked Reviews previous medical information and gathers any relevant updated health information from the patient to inform the provider Take vitals, perform blood draws, give injections, bandage wounds, assist with procedures. ABOUT THE JOB The LPN works with a concierge physician to provide healthcare services for corporate clients to ensure excellent care and experience for our patients. Marathon Health nurses are responsible for front and back-office duties, including assessing patients, informing the physician of changes and assuring Marathon Health physicians have the resources and tools necessary to be successful. Because this is a highly visible position, the nurse must be a resource for the patient and accept responsibility for meeting satisfaction goals. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Support physician in clinical and administrative functions Clinical: Interview patients to obtain medical information and report findings to physician Record patient’s assessments into an Electronic Medical Record. Perform venipuncture and basic laboratory tests and work with contracted labs for additional tests Assist with medical procedures Utilize diagnostic and therapeutic medical equipment (e.g. O2 therapy, EKG, etc.) Keep exam rooms clean, disinfected and stocked with supplies needed for examinations Administrative: Maintains patient flow in accordance scheduling and incoming / outgoing calls Help coordinate specialist visits, referrals, and other care outside of the clinic Retrieves messages and responds to calls from patients, pharmacies, and other medical offices as delegated by physician Fulfill medical record requests and abstraction Make the medical visit a positive and supportive experience for each patient QUALIFICATIONS High school diploma required plus graduation from a formal training program and 2+ years’ experience preferred as an LPN, ideally in primary care. Partners with providers and administrative leadership to support departmental goals, quality initiatives, and organizational priorities. Clinical Staff Management, Leadership & Development (35%) Provides direct supervision and leadership for HH Generalist clinical staff, including RNs, LPNs, and Medical Assistants. Manages clinical staff scheduling, assignments, and resource allocation to maintain appropriate staffing levels and support operational needs. Leads recruitment, onboarding, orientation, training, competency validation, ongoing education, coaching, and professional development of clinical team members. Conducts performance evaluations and addresses performance concerns in collaboration with the HH Generalist Practice Manager, Division Director and Human Resources. Promotes a culture of accountability, teamwork, professionalism, and exceptional customer service. Quality, Patient Safety & Regulatory Compliance (15%) Supports EVMS Medical Group quality standards and patient safety initiatives related to clinical operations and direct patient care. Implements and monitors clinical practices to ensure compliance with organizational policies, evidence-based standards, OSHA, CLIA, infection prevention requirements, and applicable regulatory guidelines. Ensures appropriate clinical documentation practices and monitors electronic health record documentation for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with medical record standards. Maintains patient confidentiality and ensures adherence to HIPAA and all EVMS/EVMS Medical Group privacy policies. Supports emergency response processes and assists providers with patient care needs as appropriate. Resource Management & Clinical Support (15%) Maintains appropriate levels of medical, surgical, and pharmaceutical supplies and ensures clinical areas are safe, organized, and prepared for patient care. Provides direct patient care support as needed, including patient triage, medication education, assisting providers with examinations and procedures, and addressing patient care concerns. Maintains professional competency through required training, continuing education, meetings, and organizational initiatives. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications and Skills Licensed Virginia Register Nurse (RN) (or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) with equivalent education and/or experience) is required. Three (3) years of supervisor/charge nurse experience is required. Preferred Qualifications Progressively more responsible positions in group practice management, in a large specialty group practice, strongly preferred. BSN preferred.
