Job Description Under the supervision of the UCSF Department of OB/GYN, REI guided by the policies and procedures, rules and regulations, and bylaws of the UCSF Medical Center, some Nursing Policies, and, Medical Staff Policies, and any unique ambulatory patient services this Nurse Practitioner (NP) position is assigned to in the Center for Reproductive Health (CRH). This AHP position may perform delegated functions as appropriate to their "scope of practice". In general, the "scope of practice" includes the management of chronic stable medical conditions, routine care, acute or critical care, and medical and surgical procedures per approved standardized procedures as identified by the list available on the Medical Staff Office website. The CIDP approved standardized procedures are unique to each person and are unlikely to include ALL SPs on the list. This position may provide patient care in approved age groups and UCSF Health licensed settings. The AHP has responsibility for the quality of standards of care for a specified patient population and evidences self-direction and accountability in the development of this role within the all UCSF medical center locations. UCSF Health requires all Advanced Health Practitioners (AHP) to be credentialed through its Medical Staff Services Office (MSSO) in order to practice and function in their clinical role. Job Description Under the general supervision of the Nurse Manager, the Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) Supervisor will oversee clinic operations and will have primary responsibility for the supervision of LVNs and medical assistants at UCSF’s Berkeley Outpatient Multispecialty Center (BOPC). They will also have shared, indirect oversight over other support staff such as practice coordinators in coordination with the Practice Supervisor/Administrative Director. Responsibilities: Clinical Patient Care Provide quality patient care aligned with diagnosis, treatment plan, age group, development, and identified needs Perform outpatient clinical duties including preliminary assessments of new and follow-up patients Evaluate clinic and Emergency Center "drop-in" patients Conduct physical examinations and assess patient eligibility as needed Assume responsibility for clinic patients during physician absence or reassignment Documentation & Orders Dictate clinic progress notes for follow-up patients and consultation notes for new consults Dictate PMEs for new patients Write admission notes and orders for hospitalized patients Write outpatient orders including chemotherapy, IV fluids, transfusions, and growth factors Document patient information and clinical findings for physician review Care Coordination & Support Assist with clinic-related paperwork including x-ray requests, scheduling, prescriptions, and chemotherapy orders Coordinate biopsies, consultations, and retrieval of lab, x-ray, and pathology reports Contact consulting physicians and support interdisciplinary communication Screen patient phone calls and escalate to physician when appropriate Inpatient & Cross Coverage Support Assist physician with inpatient care as needed Work with alternate physician during assigned physician absence Attend department meetings related to patient care Support physician-directed activities during non-clinic hours Additional Duties Screen patients for eligibility and assist in preparation of chemotherapy orders during non-clinic hours Obtain charts and imaging for clinical analysis Perform bone marrow aspiration procedures Complete additional patient care and administrative duties as assigned by Medical Director or attending physician Other duties as assigned. APRN or Physician Assistant EDUCATION: Required: Advanced Practice Registered Nurse Master's Degree in Nursing or Doctor of Nursing Practice. May be waived for applicants who obtained recognition as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse from the Texas State Board of Nursing prior to 1/1/2003. Graduate education and related Texas Board of Nursing authorization must be consistent with clinical practice area and patient population. Physician Assistant Master's degree from an accredited Physician Assistant (PA) program by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA), except for Physician Assistants who graduated from a PA program prior to 2013. EXPERIENCE: Preferred: At least 1 year of Oncology experience as an Advanced Practice Provider.
