Float pool staff will be scheduled through the facility scheduler in accordance with our scheduling policies . Float staff are required to attend and/or complete mandatory in-services, annual competencies, Health Stream education courses and any other requirements as deemed necessary. SPECIFIC ELEMENTS & ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1. Demonstrates critical thinking skills, scientific judgment and leadership in planning for the care of the patient. 2. Assesses plans and evaluates patient care needs. 3. Carries out physician orders. 4. Administers prescribed medications, changes dressings, cleans wounds, and monitors vital signs. 5. Serves as the primary coordinator of all disciplines for well coordinated patient care. 6. Monitors, records and communicates patient condition as appropriate utilizing computerized documentation systems. 7. Instructs and educates patients and families. 8. Assesses and coordinates patients transfer planning needs with members of the healthcare team. 9. Provides age and culturally appropriate care. 10. Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required’ 11. Performs all other duties as assigned.
