Neuro Progressive Care Unit Highlights Our 35- bed Cardiac/ Neuro Intermediate Unit is a stroke designated unit that specializes in neurological, spinal surgeries and conditions that includes but not limited to seizures, strokes, cervical and lumbar discectomy/fusion, craniotomies for tumor resection, and cerebral aneurysm clipping. Our phenomenal RN team also provides care for cardiovascular patients with conditions such Heart Failure, AMI, pre and post interventional patients (heart Cath, ablations, and pacemakers), patients needing cardiac drips, and Arrhythmia patients needing a higher level of care in a non-ICU setting. It is a high acuity telemetry/ PCU unit that has standard nurse to patient ratios of 4:1. Overview Department: Progressive Care Unit Shift’s Available: Nights Employment Type: Full Time Hours: 12hr Location: Dallas Regional Medical Center – Mesquite, TX We are seeking a Progressive Care Registered Nurse or PCU RN, internally referred to as our Progressive Care Nurse. In the Progressive Care Unit (PCU), the PCU RN or Step-Down RN will provide specialized care to patients with acute and/or chronic medical conditions who require close monitoring, intervention, and support to optimize their outcomes and facilitate their transition to lower levels of care. Responsibilities Conduct assessments of patients' conditions, including vital signs, cardiac rhythms, neurological status, respiratory status, and overall clinical stability, you will need to monitor changes in patients' conditions and respond promptly to any deterioration Utilize telemetry and other monitoring devices to continuously monitor patients' cardiac rhythms, oxygen saturation levels, blood pressure, and other parameters you must be able to recognize and interpret abnormalities in monitoring data Administer medications as directed by physicians, encompassing intravenous medications, antibiotics, pain management medications, and cardiac medications, while vigilantly monitoring patients for any adverse reactions or side effects Perform nursing interventions and treatments as ordered by physicians, such as wound care, catheter care, suctioning, and administration of oxygen therapy, which may include assisting with procedures Adhere to evidence-based practice guidelines, hospital policies, and protocols related to patient care, infection control, and safety Qualifications Current and valid state RN License. Current BLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current. Completion of Critical Care Course preferred. Current ACLS certificate 30 days upon hire and maintain current. Minimum of one year as a staff RN in acute care hospital, critical care preferred. Critical Care RN (CCRN) Certification preferred. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred. This unit specializes in complex cardiac care including ventricular assist devices (VADs) and bedside monitoring on all patients.
