Our Occupational Health Dept. services the 3,300 Employees of Penn Medicine Princeton by providing them with New Hire physicals, Annual Flu Vaccines, Urgent Care and Worker’s Comp. claims. We also provide care to several private local companies, as well as the State of NJ agencies and municipalities in the surrounding area, by meeting their needs for New Hire Physicals, Annual DOT regulatory agency compliance and Worker’s Comp. Care. Our dept. and medical providers are certified to offer Drug Testing and Breath Alcohol Testing, DOT and OSHA Physicals, Travel Medicine Consults, Immigration and International Physicals. The RN position is an 8-hour shift. Our dept. hours are: 7:30am to 4:30pm with some nurses working 7:30am to 4pm and the others working 8am to 4:30pm. Key Roles and Responsibilities: Our office is staffed with both LPN’s and RN’s. There will always be always at least (2) other Occ. Health Dept. nurses on with you. Prior Occ. Health or office experience is a plus as is experience in the ED or Critical Care settings. Nursing staff is trained to care for both the Hospital Employee and well as the Corporate Client. The nurse will learn to perform hearing assessments using the Hearing Booth, visual assessments using the Titmus Vision Machine, Spirometry and Fit Testing both Qualitative and Quantitative with the Port-A-Count. There are opportunities to go out of the office setting and perform testing and provide vaccines to various off sites belonging to PMPH and our Corporate Clients. Assists scrub tech by opening sterile packs and delivering necessary packets of materials; operates autoclaves for sterilization of necessary accessory items. • Prepares the operative site by doing a surgical scrub to the operative area according to the surgeon’s preferences. • Assists with transfer of patients to the operating/procedure room from pre-op, giving assistance to anesthesia and surgeons and helps transfer patients to recovery following procedures • Assists scrub techs in dressing members of the operating team. Maintain nursing supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level, anticipating needed supplies, placing and expediting orders for supplies, verifying receipt of supplies, and using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results. The Registered Nurse may provide direct oversight of the GN, LPN, Technical Partner, ALS Technician, Nurse Extern and Unit Clerks. This oversight includes the Registered Nurse conducting the initial comprehensive assessment and interpreting the assessment to initiate the interprofessional plan of care. This oversight includes support of the delegation of duties that are within the scope and capability of the care team. Coordinates communications between patients/families and physician practice, pharmacies, specialists, and insurance carriers. Provides advice based on protocols and physician instructions and directs patients to the appropriate level of care. Facilitates patient's access to prescription refills based on physician order. Obtains prior authorizations and/or assists with indigent programs per physician order based on the patient's financial status or insurance coverage. Completes medication reconciliation according to policy Provide continuity of care for patients in collaboration with physicians, with accountability for planning according to Pathways and policies/procedures. Evaluates adherence to the Clinical Pathway for assigned patient group in collaboration with physician. Demonstrates competence in patient and family education including, but not limited to, etiology, comprehensive wound care, dressings, edema control, specialty foot care and life style changes. Adheres to all policies/procedures for HBOT patient care/safety Assists HBOT technician with patient care as needed. Completes HBOT training course if deemed necessary for center operations. RN HBO trained, will accomplish all supportive tasks/duties assigned and deemed to be safe by the program safety coordinator (when applicable). Competency and Experience [Knowledge, Skills and Abilities] Required Qualifications/Experience Graduate of an accredited Nursing Program required.
