Job Summary and Qualifications What You Will Do in This Role: The role of the OR Tech II is to assist the OR team in the care of patients, equipment , and supplies. The OR Tech II in 701 Surgery provides care for birth to pediatric, pediatric/child patients between 1 to 11 years of age; adolescent patients between 12 to 17 years of age; adult patients between 18 to 64 years; and geriatric patients 65 years and older. The surgical technologist in the first scrub role handles the instruments, supplies , and equipment necessary during the surgical procedure . The OR Tech II understands the procedure being performed and anticipates the needs of the surgeon. The OR Tech II has the necessary knowledge and ability to ensure quality patient care during the operative procedure and is constantly on vigil for maintenance of the sterile field. When the OR Tech II is in the second scrub role, they assist the surgeon and/or surgical assistant during the operative procedure by carrying out tasks including sponging, suctioning, cutting suture, holding retractors and manipulating the endoscopic camera . This role is distinct from that of the first scrub and surgical first assistant. What Qualifications You Will Need: Graduate of an accredited school of Certified Operating Room Technicians (CORT) Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) preferred. Knowledge of medications and their correct administration based on age of the patient and their clinical condition. Basic computer knowledge. Organize tasks, develop action plans, set priorities, and function under stressful situations. Maintain good working relationship with co-workers. Must read, write and speak fluent English. Qualifications Education Graduate from an accredited Registered Nursing program. Licenses/Certifications Health Services\RN - Registered Nurse - State Licensure and/or Compact State Licensure Upon Hire Required Health Services\BCLS - Basic Life Support Facility-Specified Required Health Services\ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support Facility-Specified Required Experience Minimum one year training and experience in Critical Care.
