Location: Parkland: 7th FLR BLK 100 Part Time with Benefits - Nights PRIMARY PURPOSE The RN is a licensed professional who uses the Parkland nursing professional practice model to coordinate patient care delivery by the health care team. Using the nursing process, the RN assesses the patient, identifies nursing diagnoses based on responses to health problems, develops and implements an individualized plan of care, and evaluates the patient's response. The RN utilizes knowledge of patient needs and the healthcare environment to assist patients to transition through the healthcare encounter without any preventable complications or delays. The RN delegates interventions to health care personnel based on the Texas Nursing Practice Act, each patient's condition and the competencies of the employee. MINIMUN SPECIFICATIONS Education Must be a graduate from an accredited school of nursing. Experience Must have two years of nursing experience. Equivalent Education and/or Experience: None Certification/Registration/Licensure Must have current, valid RN license or temporary RN license from the Texas Board of Nursing; or, valid Compact RN license. Must have current healthcare provider CPR course completion card from one of the following: American Heart Association American Red Cross Military Training Network. Must have current Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification on hire or placement in the role. May be required to have additional specialty certifications. May participate in community outreach activities (such as health fairs, community collaborations or outreach clinics) as assigned. Maintains and implements knowledge of applicable rules, regulations, policies, laws and guidelines that impact or govern nursing practice, and ensures the hospital and Parkland are in compliance. Develops effective internal controls that promote adherence to applicable state/federal laws and the program requirements of accreditation agencies and federal, state, and private health plans. Maintains and updates knowledge of sanitation, infection control, safety, supplies, equipment, appropriate utilization of supplies and materials. Performs appropriate patient assessments. Recognizes changes in a patient's condition and provides appropriate interventions as necessary. Consults with other team members as required, notifies providers to report changes in patient condition and implements orders in a timely manner. Exercises independent judgment in providing safe nursing care to the stable neonate, post-partum, and antepartum patient. Provides safe medication administration using the patient's six (6) rights, provide maintenance and management of IV access, must be able to perform POC monitoring and demonstrate safe infection control practices. Supports appropriate positioning, assessment and management of pain and provides emergency resuscitation care to the neonate and post-partum population. Completes appropriate documentation. Maintains accurate and timely entries and notations in patient care records and hospital documents. Ensures that all records and documents meet the standards, goals, and objectives of the post-Partum department and Parkland. Provides direction to nursing and non-nursing personnel. Provides appropriate hand off any time care is relinquished. Participates in information exchanges with nursing and other Parkland staff that support the standards, missions, goals and objectives of the department and Parkland. Seeks and utilizes direction from more experience staff and team members as needed. Serves as Charge Nurse on rotation as necessary. Serves as a preceptor or resource to nursing staff members. Prepares and conducts an educational in-service at least once per year. Identifies ways to improve work process and improve patient and customer satisfaction. Makes recommendations to supervisor, implements and monitors results as appropriate in support of the overall goals of the post-Partum department and Parkland. May serve on various interdisciplinary committees as assigned. Stays abreast of the latest developments, advancements and trends in nursing practice by attending seminars/workshops, reading professional journals and actively participating in professional organizations. Maintains State of Texas Licensure as a Registered Nurse, plus any additional required licensures/certifications. Integrates knowledge gained into current work practices. Supports breastfeeding by incorporating evidence-based practice that promotes breastfeeding success with the aim to increase rates of breastfeeding initiation, duration and exclusivity. Clinic Nurse Job Description Clinic Nurses are responsible for providing assistance to providers in the direct and indirect care of Practice Management patients. Performs patient or office related duties including but not limited to clinical measurements and data collection. Documents data and provider directed information clearly and accurately in patient records. Functions clinically as support staff to provider(s). Responsibilities Accepts reassignment, at the direction and discretion of management, as applicable to staffing levels and patient volumes, Administers medication as directed by the provider., Assists providers with patient exams/ treatments/procedures., Cleans/stocks exam rooms/work spaces on an on-going basis to assure that there is an adequate supply. Performs all tasks related to stocking and cleaning in adherence to regulatory and system infection control policies/protocols. This includes responsibility for discarding outdated items and labeling multi-dose vials with date and initial opened and then discarding them per guidelines., Cleans and sterilizes equipment and instruments based on needs of the practice. Performs tasks and documents them in alignment with infection control regulations and system policies/protocols., Collects patient data including but not limited to heights, weights, vital signs and other measurements., Documents appropriate data/information. Keeps providers aware of patient requests, needs and observations made that could be of value to the provider's assessment, care and follow-up., Documents responses to patient history/screening questions for use by providers during assessments and examinations., Follows Universal Precautions at all times during contact with patients, equipment, instruments, and/or specimens., Performs and documents laboratory duties which may include phlebotomy, specimen collection and performance of routine basic waived testing. Handles and coordinates reference lab testing specimens/reports and corresponding reports/documentation., Performs general clerical duties, as required, such as receiving and mailing patient test results, preparing charge tickets, transcribing data to physical or referral forms, filing and monitoring or ordering supplies,, Relays information between provider(s) and client(s), which may include but is not limited to communications with patients, families, pharmacies, nursing homes, consultancy office staff, insurers, and facilities. At provider's instruction, communicates provider advice, instructions, orders and results, as applicable, including accurate documentation., Routes messages to provider as appropriate., Schedules patients for diagnostic, therapeutic, referral or additional office visits.
