PACU/ Post-Op Registered Nurse PRN

Midwest Specialty Surgery Center is a free-standing orthopedic outpatient surgery center located on the southwest side of Indianapolis. Midwest specializes in total joint replacement of the hip, knee, and shoulder as well as general orthopedic surgery. We are currently seeking a Registered Nurse to join our team that would work with patients after orthopedic surgery prior to discharge. The ideal candidate for this position will be a highly motivated, fast-learning professional who is able to multi-task effectively and maintain a good attitude and patience. _ A typical day would include caring for 3-4 post-op patients per shift. Primary duties would be education for patient and family prior to discharge as well as assessing that patient is safe to discharge home. You will not take call. You will not work weekends or holidays. Hours may vary from time to time, based on patient needs for the day. Typically, hours are 8-6:30pm. At times shifts may run later depending on when patients are ready to discharge. Job Type: PRN Qualifications: Graduate of an accredited RN School of Nursing. Active RN license in the state. ACLS Required Ability to make decisions based on nursing judgment. Able to prioritize and organize workload to meet needs of patients and unit. Strong communication skills, verbal and written. Essential Duties Assesses community needs in relation to tuberculosis services. Provides care coordination, case management, referral, and follow-up care to individuals and families who are members of a vulnerable population and/or high-risk groups. Collect demographic information, health history, and extent of illness or infectiousness, and patient’s knowledge and beliefs regarding TB. Provides home visits to conduct a comprehensive home assessment, symptom screen, and directly-observed therapy. Provides support and education to TB clients and contacts. Maintains working files of reported cases, suspects and individuals with latent tuberculosis infection (LTBI). Monitor treatment regimen, including ongoing assessment, response to treatment, HIV status, positive and negative motivational factors influencing adherence and any unmet educational needs of the patient. Ensure contact investigation is completed, and provide education about TB infection and disease. Communicate current communicable disease status through monthly report summaries. Evaluate outcomes of direct patient care, educational programs, and research. Referral of clients needing medical evaluation and/or treatment for LTBI or active TB to primary care provider or TARC clinic. Facilitates TARC and Refugee Clinics as needed. Includes inventory management, scheduling, referrals, and clinic management. Participate in community meetings, health forums, and board meetings to review community services available, and share services available through MCPHD TB Program.
