Family Beginnings at Eskenazi Health encompasses a 6-bed triage, 14 bed LDR, OR/PACU, Antenatal unit, and 20 bed postpartum unit. Family Beginnings staff are experienced in all areas of care. Job Role Summary The Electrophysiology Nurse Coordinator coordinates and facilitates scheduling of cardiac procedures at Eskenazi Health Services including cardiac catheterizations, pacemakers, implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (ICDs), trans-esophageal echos, and cardioversions. This position is also responsible for coordinating and facilitating the scheduling of cardiac procedures at Methodist Hospital including high risk cardiac catheterizations/interventions, ASD/PFO closures, EP studies/ablation, biventricular ICDs, and cardiovascular surgery. Essential Functions and Responsibilities Schedules patients for electrophysiology procedures. Completes pre-procedural screening and assures cases are scheduled in a timely manner. Coordinates care with other clinical services (i.e. anesthesia, hospitalist, and departmental leaders) as needed. Forwards outpatient referrals for prior authorization timely and provides clinical expertise when requested Supports patient throughput within the department. Communicates changes to the EP team, charge nurse, and departmental leaders to assure safe patient passage and efficient use of resources. The Adult Intensive Care/Progressive Care Unit is a mixed specialty unit with a variety of cardiac and medical critically ill patients. The nurses on this unit create, nurture, and sustain a healthy work environment with a focus on the patient. Our team members take ownership of decisions in which top quality outcomes are achieved. On this 12-bed unit, nurses primarily care for respiratory failure, ARDS, sepsis, and shock, DKA, heart failure, renal failure, STEMIs, and strokes. As a Registered Nurse you will work in collaboration with both our intensivists and hospitalist team, PT/OT, case management, patient/family liaison, and multiple other disciplines to ensure our patients are receiving excellent care. Requires an active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Indiana or an active Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) RN license. Requires that the RN has graduated from a nationally accredited nursing program. Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA. Other Advanced Life Support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies. Education: The Registered Nurse (RN) must have graduated from a nationally accredited nursing program. Exceptions: Candidates who have not graduated from a nationally accredited program may be considered if they possess more than two years of acute care experience. Monitor treatment regimen, including ongoing assessment, response to treatment, HIV status, positive and negative motivational factors influencing adherence and any unmet educational needs of the patient. Ensure contact investigation is completed, and provide education about TB infection and disease. Communicate current communicable disease status through monthly report summaries. Evaluate outcomes of direct patient care, educational programs, and research. Referral of clients needing medical evaluation and/or treatment for LTBI or active TB to primary care provider or TARC clinic. Facilitates TARC and Refugee Clinics as needed. Master’s degree in public health nursing, public health, or epidemiology encouraged. 3 years of experience as a professional nurse, including at least one year of hospital practice and 2 years of practice in a public health setting with case (progressive) management responsibilities. Experience working with refugee and immigrant populations. Experience in creating and generating data sets and reports for epidemiological use preferred.
