Assess the health needs of the patient using a bio-psycho-social-spiritual framework including self-determined health goals and develop a plan of care for the patient based on his or her own personal needs. Participates in related national and local professional nursing organizations, reviews literature and assess trends in patient care needs and development of services and resources to meet these needs. Performs nursing techniques proficiently by maintaining accurate documentation, using appropriate channels of referral and working effectively with other health care team members. Assessment of patient’s ability to navigate through the healthcare system and identify potential barriers. Guide patient through the healthcare system including: Appropriate referrals to nutrition support, social work, financial counseling, psychology, rehab and or palliative care. Ability to communicate among specialty practices with the healthcare organization- build relationship with physicians and staff. Screen and inform patients who may be eligible for clinical trials for advancement of practice. The Clinical Nurse 1 New to Practice/Apprentice exhibits Penn Medicine's experience standards which reflect its mission and are embedded in the professional practice competency domains. The Clinical Nurse 1 New to Practice/Apprentice is accountable for the provision of direct care to patients who may range in age from infancy to the elderly and demonstrates within the competency domains of Continuous Quality Improvement, Evidence Based Practice and Research, Leadership, Person and Family Centered Care, Professionalism, Safety, Teamwork and Technology/Informatics. The Clinical Nurse 1 New to Practice/Apprentice works closely with the interprofessional health care team to facilitate the coordination of care across the continuum. Responsibilities: Minimum Required Qualifications: RN Licensure is required, issued by the PA Board of Nursing or a Temporary Practice Permit until an RN license is obtained. Individuals with Temporary Practice Permits must sit for their NCLEX within 60 days of starting in their RN role. Bachelor of Science in Nursing BSN preferred. For Magnet designated RN positions, BSN or higher level nursing degree is required for incumbents based upon previously established parameters; or within three 3 years of placement in position for incumbents who started after 07 01 2020. A graduate registered nurse may only practice professional nursing under supervision and if the graduate registered nurse holds a current temporary practice permit. Supervision means that a licensed registered nurse is physically present in the area or unit where the graduate registered nurse is practicing. All Clinical Nurse 1 RN’s will be required to successfully complete the Nurse Residency Program. CPR Certification - American Heart Association AHA Basic Life Support, formerly Healthcare Provider AHA Heart Saver AMA CPR BLS certification required within 30 days of hire. Lancaster Behavioral Health Hospital (LBHH) is a 126-bed, inpatient psychiatric hospital and joint venture between Lancaster General Health/Penn Medicine and Universal Health Services. In addition to a general adult unit and dedicated adolescent unit, the facility offers services for treating those with co-occurring disorders on the psychiatric-medical unit, an intensive adult unit to care for those with severe conditions, as well as a women’s trauma unit. RN House Supervisors at Lancaster Behavioral Health Hospital deliver quality care to patients with varying psychiatric, behavioral and mental health diagnoses, ensuring their safety and continued care. RN House Supervisors are responsible for completing the following duties and tasks: Receives call-ins, assigns float pool staff, and makes appropriate reassignments or changes in staff schedule to meet recommended staffing levels in the various nursing units. Collaborates with Nurse Managers, or Charge Nurses to maintain adequate staffing for the various nursing units for the current and oncoming shifts. Collaborates with the Access Intake Center staff to guarantee the most appropriate placement of the patient in the system based upon patient diagnosis, acuity, and nursing care needs Communicates information appropriately and effectively intra and interdepartmentally. Acts as a resource to nursing units and other departments and serves as a liaison when dealing with mutual problems, issues or concerns.
