The unit cares primarily for adolescent and adult patients who have traumatic injuries, and orthopedic trauma. Additionally, patients requiring telemetry monitoring may be cared for on this unit. Typical patient injuries can be comprised of rib fractures, distal orthopedic injuries, traumatic spinal injuries, closed head injuries with and without state of confusion, traumatic amputations, hemothorax’s, pneumothoraxes, and etc. Here’s What You Need Associate degree or Nursing Diploma required BSN preferred One-year experience as a clinical nurse, or completion of an RN residency program. Current BLS (required) –prior to providing independent patient care. What does the Infusion Registered Nurse (RN) do? Under minimal supervision, the Registered Nurse provides professional nursing care for patients adhering to national and company standards and guidelines for specialty regulations. Demonstrates knowledge of physiological, psychological, and developmental and age specific differences in the patient population including late adolescence, adulthood, middle age, and the elderly. Collaborates with the interdisciplinary team to provide for assessment and therapeutic management of patient/family needs. Administers all medications/blood products using correct medication/blood product, dosage/amount, route, time and technique. Facilitates dose modification by assessing patient, assessing labs, consulting protocol or treatment plan, calculating dose, and consulting physician regarding dosage modifications, problems and symptom management Performs venipuncture, accesses implanted ports and maintains central lines catheter devices. Qualifications The ideal candidate for the Infusion Registered Nurse (RN) will have the following background and experience: Level 1: Graduate from an accredited program for professional nursing education, BSN preferred. RN state license and current registration with the State Board of Nursing in practicing state. 0-3 years nursing experience, preferably at least one year in oncology. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Level 2 (in addition to level 1 requirements): 3-5 years nursing experience. Oncology certification preferred. Level Sr (in addition to level 1 and 2 requirements): Five years nursing experience.
