The medical oncology unit is a state of the art 32 bed facility. With acute and Intermediate level care provided. Nursing staff work collaboratively with leadership in a shared governance model. The 40 bed Pre/Post unit willadmit and prepare patients/families for surgical procedures including: Cardiac Procedures (TEE, catheterization, EP), Robotic Surgery (gynecology, urology, abdominal surgery), Vascular Surgery, Cardiac Surgery (adult and pediatric) IMC experience preferred. Critical Care or PACU experience is strongly preferred. Basic knowledge of the research base, theory, practices, principles, and processes of professional nursing. Interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members. Analytical ability sufficient to identify changes in patients’ conditions and to initiate appropriate action. Ability to identify potential crisis situations involving patients and/or families and to initiate appropriate action. Demonstrates a caring nursing practice and promotes a healing environment for patients and families. Demonstrates the required knowledge and technical skills to care for most patient populations on the unit.
