Responsibilities POSITION SUMMARY: The RN is responsible for managing patients admitted or being seen for medical conditions or surgical procedures; performs the primary function of a professional nurse leader in assessing, planning, guiding, and evaluating nursing care provided to patients. Qualifications QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Prefer one year full time or three years part time experience in acute care setting. 2. Must demonstrate commitment and adherence to STHS’s Compliance Program and Code of Conduct through compliance with all policies and procedures, the Code of Conduct, attendance at required training and immediately reporting suspected compliance issue(s) to the Compliance Officer. EDUCATION / LICENSURE: 1. Registered Nurse currently licensed in the State of Texas, or part of a compact state license, or has a valid temporary RN license for the State of Texas while waiting to receive the permanent license. BSN preferred. 2. Effective January 6, 2012, must possess an Associate Degree, Baccalaureate Degree or Diploma from a School of Nursing or University. New graduate RN’s in possession of a permit to practice in the State of Texas may provide documentation from their RN program validating their completion of nursing program requirements. 3. Here’s What You Need Diploma in Nursing or Associate degree from an accredited Nursing program required BSN preferred One-year experience as a clinical nurse, or completion of an RN residency program. One year of Mom/Baby experience strongly preferred RN must practice within the regulations of the Texas Nurse Practice Act, serve as a role model, intra/interdisciplinary collaborator, and coordinator for quality patient care BCLS – Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent care and maintained quarterly required and CPI – Crisis Prevention Intervention training within 90 days and maintained annually required and NRP – Essential Neonatal Resuscitation Program required within 90 days and ACLS – Advance Cardiac Life Support within 90 days required and NRPA – Advanced Neonatal Resuscitation Program within 90 days required What You Will Do Delivers care to patients utilizing the Nursing Process Assesses the patient Plans the care of the patient Intervenes as appropriate Evaluates the effectiveness of interventions Incorporates age specific safety/infection control measures into patient care. Initiates action to meet patient and/or significant others need for information Maintains continuity of patient care inter-shift, inter-hospital, and while expediting out of hospital transfers.
