The Registered Nurse assures safety in practice and is inclusive of the principles of evidence-based practice by maintaining a realization of own individual level of knowledge and experience and assumes responsibility for advancing knowledge of self and others of the patient care team by communication with and utilizing resource persons and programs available. The Registered Nurse is responsible for reporting identified safety issues such as hazardous environments (i.e. damaged floors/walls/ceiling tiles/unsecured areas) and medical errors. The Registered Nurse is responsible for knowledge of the patient population served. The Registered Nurse is responsible for supervising and directing the delegation of tasks to appropriate team members and collaborates with other patient care providers. The Registered Nurse is responsible for consistently setting and evaluating priorities through appropriate interventions with measurable outcomes toward improvement. The Registered Nurse is an individual practitioner and the interdisciplinary team manager, utilizes the nursing process to integrate all aspects of the provision of care and individualizes the plan of care to address a specific patient’s needs. Other Duties Orients patient's family to new environment; develops rapport with patient's family Relieves the Nurse Manager as required. Assists in data collection and analysis of Quality Assurance/CQI monitors; participates in implementation of follow up action. Accurately and effectively utilizes the hospital computer system as it pertains to job responsibilities and in accordance with hospital policy. Participates actively on Quality Improvement committees as assigned. Assists other personnel as needed. Keeps up to date with current trends pertinent to area of assignment. Participates in continuing education activities; attends scheduled Inservice programs; shares information gained at conferences with colleagues. Performs other related duties as required. Position Qualifications Current New Jersey Registered Nurse license required. American Heart Association Basic Life Support certification required. IV Certification required. Good oral and written communication skills. Good interpersonal skills. Speaks, reads, and writes English to the extent required by the position. Education BSN required, or proof of enrollment in an accredited BSN program with completion expected within three (3) years of start date.
