The Experienced Clinical Nurse at MD Anderson Cancer Center manages patient outcomes by providing, coordinating and supporting clinical aspects of direct patient care across the continuum of care. P10 Surgical/Oncology is a specialized inpatient unit providing care for surgical oncology patients, including those undergoing complex cancer-related procedures. Appropriately refers mental health and emotional support needs to social work navigator or back to community or health system mental health professional. Assists leader in planning, development, implementation and evaluation of goals and objectives. Assists leader with data collection, analysis and reporting. Achieves and maintains a current knowledge base regarding local, regional and national resources while ensuring electronic database of resources remains up to date including working collaboratively with the American Cancer Society and other organizations that provide support to cancer patients. Works collaboratively with all Avera Cancer Institute staff and providers as well as other staff and providers throughout the Avera system to provide coordinated services which facilitate continuity of care for the patient and their families.
