Location ST. LOUIS, MO 63141 Scheduled Hours 40 Position Summary Don’t miss the opportunity to join our team with WashU Department of Urologic Surgery! We have approximately 14 providers who see patients at this location. We have 3-6 providers in the office each day. Our staff is comprised of RNs, LPNs and MAs. We are a close group that works as one team regardless of job title. Our providers typically see 16-24 patients per day. We see adults of all ages. Our population consists of patients who are surgical and/or procedural with a condition that is urological in nature. The RN role is multifaceted with a heavy emphasis on in-office procedures. This role also includes assisting providers with patient care, pre-op education, and diagnostic testing. Our clinical team rotates positions each day, some days working with a provider, some days seeing patients. This job is fully clinical. There is no back-office work involved. No calling patients, no pre-certs, no scheduling, etc. This position is Monday- Friday, 7:30 am - 4:00 pm, no weekends or holidays! Provides direct patient care and education for patients receiving treatments, examinations, surgeries, etc., in a medical office according to established procedures. Job Description Primary Duties & Responsibilities: Utilizes the nursing process in assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating a plan of patient care. Provides patient care, which may include administering medication, performing procedures and monitoring patient status in accordance with approved nursing practice. Provides appropriate counsel and education to patients/families regarding disease process and symptom management. Maintains medical records requiring appropriate and timely recording of patient information. Consults with members of the health care team, adjusting nursing care processes as indicated to ensure optimal patient outcomes. Assists the health care provider with examinations, procedures, prescription refills and other processes related to direct patient care. Responsibilities ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: -Demonstrates knowledge of age specific differences in the patient population including physiological and developmental differences unique to each group. -Assess and monitors therapy of patients using appropriate technical skills under the direction and supervision of a physician. -Assists physician with exams and procedures. -Maintains efficient and appropriate patient flow. -Demonstrates knowledge of reimbursement procedures and charge capture. -Performs venipuncture, accesses implanted ports and maintains central venous access devices and alternate delivering systems. -Documents all elements of care. -Communicates all pertinent information and any interventions to the physician or mid level provider. -Serves as a resource person to the medical assistants and LPNs. -Triages patient/family phone calls as needed and documents relevant information in the patient's chart. -Assesses patient/family needs and provides teaching. -Demonstrates awareness of community resources available to patients and assists with referrals if necessary. -Provides nursing coverage for the satellite offices as needed. -Follows OSHA guidelines when handling cytotoxic agents, biohazardous waste and any other material potentially infected with a blood borne pathogen. -Maintains current knowledge of oncology nursing by participating in ongoing educational opportunities. -Participates in professional development activities and maintain professional affiliations. -Maintains patient confidentiality. -Serves as mentor/preceptor and provides day to day guidance to less experienced nurses. Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Graduate from an accredited program for professional nursing education, BSN preferred. Outpatient Registered Nurse - RN

PURPOSE AND SCOPE: The professional registered nurse Outpatient RN CAP 1 is an entry level designation into the Clinical Advancement Program (CAP). This position is accountable and responsible for the provision and coordination of clinically competent care including assessment, planning, intervention and evaluation for an assigned group of patients. This may include delegation of appropriate tasks to direct patient care staff including but not limited to RNs, LVN/LPNs and Patient Care Technicians. As a member of the End Stage Kidney Disease (ESKD) health care team, this position participates in decision-making, teaching, leadership functions, and quality improvement activities that enhance patient care outcomes and facility operations. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: All duties and responsibilities are expected to be performed in accordance with Fresenius Kidney Care policy, procedures, standards of nursing practice, state and federal regulations. · Performs all essential functions under the direction of the Supervisor and with guidance from the Clinical Educator, Preceptor or in collaboration with other Registered Nurses. · Performs ongoing, systematic collection and analysis of patient data pre – during – post hemodialysis treatment for assigned patients and documents in the patient medical record, makes adjustments or modifications to treatment plan as indicated and notifies Team Leader, Charge Nurse, Supervisor or Physician as needed. · Assesses, collaborates, and documents patient/family’s basic learning needs to provide initial and ongoing education to patients and family. · Directs and provides, in collaboration with direct and ancillary patient care staff, all aspects of the daily provision of safe and effective delivery of hemodialysis therapy to assigned patients. · Administers medications as prescribed or in accordance with approved algorithm(s), and documents appropriate medical justification and effectiveness. · Initiates or assists with emergency response measures. · Serves as a resource for health care team, participates in staff training and orientation of new staff as assigned. · Ensures correct laboratory collection, processing and shipping procedures are performed and reschedules missed or insufficient laboratory collections. · Identifies expected outcomes, documents and updates the nursing assessment and plan of care for assigned patients through collaboration with the Interdisciplinary Team. · Ensures patient awareness related to transplant and treatment modality options. · Required to complete CAP requirements to advance. · Performs all other duties as assigned by Supervisor. SUPERVISION: Assigned oversight of Patient Care Technicians/LPNs/LVNs/RNs as a Team Leader or designated Nurse in Charge, after meeting all the following: · Successful completion of all FKC education and training requirements for new employees. · Must have a minimum of 9 months experience as a RN. · Must have a minimum of 3 months experience in chronic/acute hemodialysis as a RN. EDUCATION and LICENSURE: · Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing. · Current appropriate state licensure. · Current or successful completion of CPR BLS Certification. · Must meet the practice requirements in the state in which he or she is employed. EXPERIENCE AND REQUIRED SKILLS: · Entry level for RNs with less than 2 years of Nephrology Nursing experience as a Registered Nurse. · Chronic/acute hemodialysis experience (preferred).
