Job Details Surgical Physician Assistant (PA) Per Diem - am and pm shifts Job Description: We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Surgical Physician Assistant (PA) to join our esteemed surgical team at a leading hospital in New York. In this role, you will work closely with surgeons and the healthcare team to provide comprehensive pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative care for patients undergoing a variety of surgical procedures. As a Surgical PA, you will be an integral part of the surgical care team, assisting with a range of surgeries, from routine to complex, across multiple specialties. Patient Management: Collaborate with attending physicians, residents, and other medical professionals to develop and implement treatment plans for surgical patients. Documentation: Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient care in the electronic health record (EHR) system. Patient Education: Provide counseling on post-operative care, including medication management, activity restrictions, wound care, and signs of complications. On-call Responsibilities: Participate in on-call rotations as needed for emergency surgical care. Collaboration: Work closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes and efficient workflow in the surgical department. Qualifications: Master’s degree in Physician Assistant studies from an accredited program. Current New York State Physician Assistant licensure. Certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA). Previous surgical experience or a strong interest in surgery preferred. Excellent clinical skills, with the ability to think critically and make independent decisions. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. Compassionate, patient-centered approach to care. Ability to perform under pressure and handle challenging situations with professionalism and poise.
