Acts as scrub assistant assisting the physician during interventional procedures under fluoroscopy; maintaining a sterile technique according to the established company policies and procedures and state and federal regulations. Draws up intravenous medication and labels as per Medication Labeling Policy, and Medication in the Sterile Field Competency. Performs circulating duties in the procedure room. Complies with HIPAA policies and standards in regards to patient confidentiality. Assists with maintaining environmental integrity and aesthetics. Ensures all areas are clean, sanitary and safe on a daily basis Ensures all facility equipment and instruments are in proper working condition by inspecting equipment on a daily basis before andafter procedures. May perform minor equipment repairs and general upkeep. Communicatesproblems to supervisor and documents issues in the communications log. May assist with instrument sterilization and packaging of surgical instruments. Assists with preparing, organizing, and efficiently utilizing supplies and equipment to prevent wastage. Provides outstanding quality of patient care by supporting and driving USV quality standards through meeting regulatory requirements and the practiceof Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI), including use of USV/FMS CQI tools. Assists with implementing USV quality goals and facility specific action plans in order to achieve USV quality standards. Maintains integrity of medical records and other USV administrative and operational records. Provides clerical and practical support to physicians and staff: Works with the physicians and staff to have all necessaryinstruments and equipment are on hand. May print images and send to the physician. May assist with training and orienting new employees on the medical equipment. Files paperwork in patient files according to policies and procedures. Assists with inventory, ordering of supplies and re-stocking of supplies. May process x-ray images after acquisitions. May archive patient images to comply with USV policies and procedures for patient medical records and state regulations. Participates in all facility regulatory and accreditation surveys and action plans to address any deficiencies identified. Responsible for assisting the territory with marketing, educating, promoting and selling Fresenius Vascular Care services to dialysis clinics, Medical Directors, nephrologists and other pertinent members of the medical community in an assigned territory. They work closely with Sales Management team and Clinical Specialist. Provides sales and relationship support to an assigned FVC territory or territories working in conjunction with the FVC Sales Management team / Clinical Specialist, or Regional Director of Sales identifying new accounts for Fresenius Vascular Care services to generate revenue. Establish and maintains a close relationship with current user accounts/customers, and researches the local physician market to identify potential candidates/customers for FVC services making the necessary sales calls to these potential customers under the direction of the Regional Director of Sales & Marketing to grow the number of patient procedures performed at the FVC ambulatory centers. Maintains knowledge of the vascular care business and services programs provided by FVC as well as the competitors in the local market Acts as the customer relations contact and liaison between the dialysis clinics, specialty clinics and the FVC Center Occasional evening and weekend hours may be required Review and comply with the Code of Business Conduct and all applicable company policies and procedures, local, state and federal laws and regulations. About the Role The Certified Surgical Technologists is an allied health professional, who is an integral part of the team of medical practitioners providing surgical care to patients. The Certified Surgical Technologists work under the supervision of a surgeon to facilitate the safe and effective conduct of invasive surgical procedures, ensuring that the operating room environment is safe, that equipment functions properly, and that the operative procedure is conducted under conditions that maximize patient safety. The Certified Surgical Technologist shall possess expertise in the theory and application of sterile and aseptic technique and combine the knowledge of human anatomy, surgical procedures, and implementation tools and technologies to facilitate a physician's performance of invasive therapeutic and diagnostic procedures. POSITION’S ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES: The Certified Surgical Technologist handles the instruments, supplies, and equipment necessary during the surgical procedure. Understands the procedure being performed and anticipates the needs of the surgeon. Knowledge and ability to ensure quality patient care during the operative. procedure and is constantly on vigil for maintenance of the sterile field. Duties are as follows: STERILE PROCESSING DUTIES: Decontaminates and sterilizes instruments, medical supplies, and equipment, and assembles, wraps, and sterilizes trays of instruments. Follows proper Standard Precautions while in decontamination and sterilization areas. Monitors biological and chemical wash solution to ensure quality and consistency for decontamination of instruments and medical equipment. Sort mismatched sets of instruments, trays, and medical equipment and makes them available to sterile processing customers in a timely manner. Restocks, labels, and maintains inventory, submits requisitions, collects, and distributes instruments, trays, crash carts, and facility medical equipment. Performs environmental maintenance duties and assists in maintaining inventory levels in sterile processing, the operating room, and in equipment storage areas. Verifies that equipment functions properly, requisitions for equipment maintenance, repair, or replacement, and removes defective equipment. Maintains a clean work area. Assists with maintaining established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, and quality improvement, safety, and environmental and infection control standards. SURGICAL TECHNOLOGIST DUTIES: Checks supplies and equipment needed for surgical procedure. Sets up sterile table with instruments, supplies, equipment, and medications/solutions needed for procedure. Performs appropriate counts with circulator prior to the operation and before incision is closed. Helps in draping sterile field. Passes instruments, etc., to surgeon during procedure. Maintains highest standard of sterile technique during procedure. Prepares sterile dressings. Cleans and prepares instruments for terminal sterilization. Assists other members of team with terminal cleaning of room. Assists in prepping room for the next patient. All other duties as assigned. ROBOTIC DUTIES: Able to answer both clinical and technical questions about the da Vinci surgical system Tasked with plan for sustainable growth of the robotics program Serves as main point of contact Enables surgeon access and facilitates best in class case support experience Targets and supports new surgeons interested in surgical procedures using the da Vinci system Coordinates and attends regularly scheduled robotic Steering Committees and provides operations updates on the progression of the program Works to configure the operation room ® in a way that is efficient for the use of a da Vinci surgical system Works with materials management to order da Vinci surgical instruments and accessories as needed Maintains lean par levels of all da Vinci surgical instruments and accessories that should be in stock Creates a metric tracking system for robotic cases to set benchmarks and evaluates progress towards the goals in reduction of non-operative time and more efficient OR workflow Based off usage metrics based on instrument utilization data, determines where it makes sense to create trays and where instruments should be peeled back Works with surgeons and nursing staff to lean out preference cards and determine which standing orders are needed for all robotic assisted procedures Works with the OR manager or charge nurse to ensure operating rooms, designated for robotic-assisted surgical cases, are properly staffed Works with the nursing staff to ensure robotic rooms have all ancillary supplies needed for robotic surgeries performed with a da Vinci surgical system Establishes a training pathway for all new hires or those that will be working in the OR designated for robotic-assisted surgical procedures, including assigning online modules, providing an in-service on the da Vinci surgical system, and observing cases Establishes clinical competencies for all staff involved in robotic-assisted surgical procedures and explains guidelines for annual testing to ensure those competencies are met Educates the OR staff on updates or new products used within robotic-assisted surgical procedures Troubleshoots any issues with the da Vinci surgical system during surgical procedures Initiates RMA process for damaged instruments and scopes Assists as scrub nurse or First Assist at patient side during robotic-assisted surgical procedures if applicable Responsible for maintaining, updating, and collecting the daily wrap-up sheet Responsible for storing other da Vinci surgical system documentation in a centralized location or dedicated binder such as a Communication Binder. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: 3 Years’ experience as a Surgical Technologist Preferred, or equivalent Military training. Two (2) years of experience as a surgical technologist and/or has demonstrated competency in two (2) or more specialty areas.
