Department Overview The Department of Pediatric / Division of Pediatric Neonatology is recruiting for a full-time APP for the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at PeaceHealth Southwest. Function/Duties of Position The appointee shall provide services as assigned by the supervisor in furtherance of the university’s missions and goals of teaching, research, patient care, outreach and public service. The Clinical Faculty APP delivers care aligned with a defined scope of practice in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at PeaceHealth Southwest, with work expectations operationalized through departmental workflows, productivity standards, and performance expectations consistent with the collective bargaining agreement (CBA) and institutional policies. This role is structured to meet contract-defined work expectations of 166.4 annual shifts per year (1.0 FTE), aligned with the staffing model for PeaceHealth Southwest NICU, including 12.5-hour shift-based scheduling, continuous 24/7 coverage, and clinical coverage expectations that include days, nights, weekends, and holidays consistent with unit scheduling guidelines The Clinical Faculty APP will participate in departmental scheduling processes, including weekends and holidays with scheduling practices aligned to contract provisions, equitable distribution of coverage, and maintenance of safe, consistent clinical operations. The Duties Of This Position Include Clinical Activities ( not assigned administrative, education, or research FTE ): Patient Population: Neonates and infants requiring Level III neonatal intensive care services, including premature infants, critically ill newborns, and medically complex patients. Patients may include those requiring stabilization, intensive monitoring, procedural support, and coordination of multidisciplinary care. Practice area and practice type: Inpatient practice within the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). Shared practice model in collaboration with attending neonatologists and interdisciplinary care teams, with independent practice responsibilities consistent with APP scope, licensure, training, and credentialing. APPs practice with a high degree of clinical autonomy within their scope, licensure, and credentialed privileges, in collaboration with the interdisciplinary care team. Clinical coverage requirement: Participation in a shift-based 24/7 staffing model providing continuous APP coverage at PeaceHealth Southwest NICU. Scheduled coverage includes 12.5-hour day and night shifts, weekends, holidays, and assignment across the full scheduling cohort. Position expectations include participation in night and weekend coverage that may exceed 40% of total shifts, consistent with the defined staffing model for this contracted community-based practice. Assignment of greater than 40% night/weekend coverage is contingent upon the continued use of back-to-back shifts. Participation in voluntary back-to-back day-to-night shifts, when scheduled, is permitted consistently with departmental staffing guidelines. Support for patients requiring neonatal intensive care including but not limited to admissions, daily ongoing care, discharges (planned and unplanned as clinically appropriate), consultations, delivery attendance, neonatal resuscitation, transport coordination, triage, and team-based patient care responsibilities, as assigned Department specific activities: Practice includes provision of neonatal care in a community-based contracted practice environment, including collaboration with onsite and remote neonatologist support consistent with the PHSW care model. Management of NICU patients, including assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, and ongoing clinical management. Attendance at high-risk deliveries and neonatal resuscitations. Performance of procedures within scope of practice and credentialed privileges (e.g., intubation, umbilical line placement, lumbar puncture, thoracostomy/chest tube placement, thoracentesis, venous and arterial access procedures, surfactant administration, and other procedures as credentialed), consistent with institutional privileging standards Participation in multidisciplinary rounds, care coordination, discharge planning, and family communication. Completion of consultations, both prenatal consults and consults requested by other community newborn providers (pediatricians, family medicine, ER) Support of patient safety, quality improvement, clinical protocols, and compliance with departmental and institutional standards. Report any changes in resident's condition--e.g. eating habits, behavior, temperature, etc. to the charge nurse of the unit. Turn bedridden residents every two (2) hours or sooner as indicated. Wash, clean, and dry all incontinent residents. Assist the treatment nurse as assigned. Complete assignment report to charge nurse at the end of every shift. Be responsible for well-being and nursing care of all residents assigned to his/her unit while on duty. Take vital signs and monthly weights (with assistance) and record results in EMR. Document the following in the EMR for all assigned residents: a) vital signs b) weight c) meal monitoring d) bowl and bladder e) restorative records Detect and report situations that have a high probability of causing accidents or injuries to residents and/or staff. Assure that work/assignment areas are clean and free of hazardous conditions, i.e. spills, excess carts, etc. and that equipment, tools, supplies, etc. are properly stored while working, as well as before leaving such areas for breaks, meal times, and end of the work day. Assure that established infection control and universal precaution practices are maintained when performing nursing procedures. Follow established safety precautions when performing tasks and when using equipment and supplies. Assure that equipment is cleaned and prepared for the next shift. Assure that work schedules are followed. Maintain the confidentiality of resident information and honor his/her personal and property rights. Attend nursing department, Care Plan, and other meetings as directed by the DON or ADON. Attend and participate in in-service educational classes and on-the-job training programs as scheduled or as directed. Turn in Days Off and payroll special request forms in a timely manner. Follow established fire, disaster, safety, infection control, and evacuation policies and procedures. Perform other related duties as directed by the DON, ADON, charge nurse, or the Administrator. Job Summary: We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) to join our skilled nursing facility team. In this role, you will provide high-quality care and support to residents, ensuring their comfort, safety, and well-being. Work Environment: This position operates in a clinical healthcare environment. Responsibilities: Resident Care: Assist residents with daily living activities including bathing, dressing, grooming, and personal hygiene. Mobility Assistance: Help residents with mobility issues, including transferring, positioning, and ambulating safely. Vital Signs Monitoring: Take and record vital signs such as blood pressure, temperature, pulse, and respiration rates. Documentation: Accurately document all care provided, changes in residents’ conditions, and any other pertinent information in electronic health records. Communication: Report any changes in residents’ conditions or concerns to the nursing staff or supervisor in a timely manner. Supportive Tasks: Assist with feeding, preparing meals, and providing companionship to enhance residents’ quality of life. Infection Control: Follow infection control protocols and maintain a clean and safe environment for residents. Team Collaboration: Work closely with other healthcare professionals, including nurses and physicians, to ensure cohesive and comprehensive care. Qualifications: Experience: Previous experience in a skilled nursing facility or similar healthcare setting preferred. Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and move residents, as well as perform physical tasks associated with patient care. Certifications: Current CNA certification in Nebraska required. $5,000 Sign-on Bonus Earn up to $47 per hour* POSITION DESCRIPTION: As a Registered Nurse (RN) you are responsible for staff assignment and provide overall supervision of resident care in accordance with established policies and procedures and as may be directed by the DON to assure that the highest degree of quality resident care can be maintained at all times. QUALIFICATIONS Graduate of an accredited school of nursing or an approved Registered Nurse (RN) program with a current Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the state in which practicing. Possess leadership ability and the willingness to work with and supervise professional and nonprofessional personnel. Ability to Read, write and speak the English language. GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES CLINICAL Complete all Registered Nurse (RN) required record keeping forms/charts upon the resident’s admission, discharge, transfer, etc. File in the resident’s chart and/or forward to the appropriate department. Prepare/administer medications as ordered by the physician. Admit, transfer and discharge resident. Assist in arranging transportation and packing as necessary. Administer professional services such as: catheterization, tube feeding, suction, applying and changing dressings/bandages, packs, colostomy and drainage bags, taking blood, sputum, and urine specimens, care of the dead/dying, etc., as established by the facility’s policies and procedures. SUPERVISION As a Registered Nurse (RN) you will work with the facility’s consultants as necessary and implement recommended changes as directed by the Director of Nurse. Investigate complaints and grievances and make necessary oral/written reports to the DON. Give/receive nursing reports upon reporting in and ending shift duty hours. Check all residents daily to assure that prescribed treatment is being properly administered by nursing personnel/assistants and to evaluate their physical and emotional status. Keep the DON informed about the status of residents, staff and related matters. CONSUMER SERVICE Presents professional image to consumers through dress, behavior and speech. SUMMARY: The LPN is responsible for providing direct nursing care to the residents, and to supervise the day-to-day nursing activities performed by nursing assistants. Provide leadership to nursing personnel assigned to your unit/shift. Complete & file required record-keeping forms/charts upon the resident’s admission, transfer and/or discharge. Receive & transcribe telephone orders from physicians & record on the Physician’s Order Form. Chart nurse’s notes in an informative & descriptive manner that reflects the care provided to the resident, as well as the resident’s response to the care. Fill out and complete accident/incident reports & submit to Director as required. Perform routine charting duties as required & in accordance with established charting & documentation policies & procedures. Prepare & administer medications as ordered by the physician. Develop & maintain a good working rapport with inter-departmental personnel, as well as other departments within the facility to ensure that nursing services and activities can be adequately maintained to meet the needs of the residents. Create and maintain an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest and positive emphasis, as well as a calm environment throughout the unit and shift. Receive/give the nursing report upon reporting in and ending shift duty hours. Make rounds with physicians as necessary. Administer professional services such as: catheterization, tube feedings, suction, applying and changing dressings/bandages, packs, colostomy, and drainage bags, taking blood, giving massages and range of motion exercises, care for the dead/dying, etc., as required. Monitor your assigned personnel to ensure that they are following established safety regulations in the use of equipment and supplies. Maintain confidentiality of all resident care information including protected health information. Report known or suspected incidents of unauthorized disclosure of such information. Ensure that all nursing care is provided in privacy and that nursing service personnel knock before entering the resident’s room. Performs other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Licensed Practical Nurse with current unencumbered state license. Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language. Must be able to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action. Must be knowledgeable of nursing & medical practices & procedures, as well as laws, regulations, and guidelines that pertain to nursing care facilities. Current CPR Certification is required Experience in Long Term Care is preferred.
