Job Overview The Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP) provides expert Family-Centered Care across the wellness-illness continuum, providing primary, acute, chronic and critical care to infants and toddlers up to age 2 years. In collaboration with other health care providers the NNP will provide initial, ongoing and comprehensive care, including taking complete histories; providing physical examinations and diagnosing, treating and managing patients with acute and chronic illnesses and diseases. This includes ordering, performing, supervising, and interpreting laboratory and imaging studies; prescribing medication and durable medical equipment; and making appropriate referrals for patients and families. In addition, NNP care also includes health promotion, disease prevention, health education, and counseling. The NNP will function as a leader within nursing and inter-professional teams, fostering open communication, mutual respect, and shared decision-making to achieve quality patient care. Identifies and demonstrates incorporation of best current evidence with clinical expertise and patient/family preferences and values for delivery of optimal health care at the unit or organization level. Minimum Qualifications Degrees Bachelor of Science in Nursing & Master’s Degree NNP Experience Three years’ combined experience as RN or NNP in a neonatal setting. High risk neonatal setting experience preferred. Circumcision procedure experience preferred. Equivalency A Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) with a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner focus from an accredited program may be accepted in lieu of a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Job Description Summary The Department of Pediatrics, Division of Emergency Medicine and After Hours Care, is seeking an Advanced Practice Provider (NP/PA) to join its team and provide high-quality care to acutely ill pediatric patients. The APP will work across the Shawn Jenkins Children’s Hospital Emergency Department (ED) and MUSC Children’s After Hours Care (AHC) locations throughout the greater Charleston area. In the ED, APPs are encouraged to evaluate patients with a broad range of clinical presentations and acuity levels, and at times when determined necessary, with a primary focus on lower-acuity patients in the “fast track” area. The APP will also provide care at AHC, the Division’s pediatric urgent care service, which operates 365 days a year. At AHC, the APP will independently evaluate and manage patients, with onsite consultation from Pediatric Department faculty available at all times. The ideal candidate is a clinically skilled and efficient healthcare provider who demonstrates compassionate, patient-centered care, strong communication and critical thinking abilities, and a commitment to quality improvement and evidence-based practice.
