Summary Job Overview The Clinical Education Specialist job description is in alignment with the Association of Nurses in Professional Development (ANPD). ANPD is the practice and thought leader for nursing professional development and the specialty practice organization upon which education specialists base their professional activities. This position will support the educational needs of the Cardiac Progressive Care Unit (CPCU) The Cardiac Progressive Care Unit (CPCU) on Anschutz campus at Children’s Hospital Colorado offers a state- of-the-art unit with 24 beds dedicated to cardiac patients who do not need intensive care but are not well enough to go home. The CPCU team cares for patients across their entire lifespan and some of the subspecialty populations we commonly treat are: Maternal/Fetal, congenital heart disease, adult congenital heart disease (ACHD), heart transplant, cardiomyopathy, pulmonary hypertension and single ventricle patients. The CPCU is served by an interdisciplinary team of highly specialized and trained team members including cardiologists, advanced practice providers, bachelor’s prepared nurses, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, nutritionists, feeding specialists, social workers and education specialists that work closely together with the families to prepare them for discharge to home. The training we offer our CPCU team is diverse and emphasizes communication, teamwork, and critical thinking in addition to specialized clinical skills.
