The Discharge Nurse prepares patients and caregivers for a safe transition from inpatient rehabilitation. Admissions RNs are responsible for completing the following duties and tasks: • Respond to telephone and face-to-face inquiries seeking mental health care or information about mental health related services. • Conduct clinical assessments in a timely manner utilizing appropriate processes. • Ensure patients and families understand the admissions and treatment process. • Discuss clinical issues with physicians to determine next steps. • Provide guidance to Intake Counselors and other departmental staff. • Collaborate with other departments and hospital leaders to address the needs of patients and staff. Located in Meridian, Mississippi, Alliance Health Center is a 154-bed acute care psychiatric and chemical dependency hospital. The facility offers treatment programs for adults and adolescents and has a unique program track specifically for seniors. The Alliance campus is also home to The Crossings, a 60-bed residential treatment facility for adolescents. For over 40 years, Alliance has been dedicated to serving individuals with acute mental and behavioral health disorders and addiction issues across the state of Mississippi and Alabama. Specific programs are provided for patients according to their diagnosis and age. Our behavioral health programs are offered to all ages from adolescents to seniors. Qualifications Education: Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing Experience: Prior intake, assessment, admission and crisis intervention experience with a psychiatric mental health population, preferably in an inpatient setting. Licensure/Certification: Currently licensed to practice by the Mississippi Board of Nursing as a Registered Nurse. Knowledge: Prefer knowledge of crisis intervention and risk assessment, psychiatric diagnoses symptomology, basic chemical dependency, age specific growth and development and crisis and behavior management.
