Insure sterile technique, instrument cleaning and sterilization, proper use of the autoclave. Schedule and coordinate necessary records for ancillary care for patients. Assist providers with exams and testing (pelvic exams, eye irrigations and ear irrigations, I & D’s and splinting/ ortho-glass preparation Perform occupational medicine testing such as: urine drug screens, breath alcohol testing, audiogram, and DOT physicals Maintain confidentiality with all patient information (HIPAA). Ensures equipment is in working order. Reports equipment malfunctions to manager. Logs laboratory procedures completed. Processes related paperwork using computer equipment as directed. Responsible for patient call backs, scheduling physician referrals; specialist’s referrals and pharmacy issues; and patient’s education. Maintains examination rooms, sterilization of equipment and stocks necessary medical supplies. Performs duties to ensure good patient flow. Registration duties: explain to patients' accepted insurances and those out of network and knowledgeable of all pricing. Properly collect and record payments, complete registration screen in a timely manner. Travel to care centers within designated region Protects patients' rights by maintaining confidentiality of personal information Cleans and stocks the site with other members of the team Training other team members. A caregiver who excels in this role will: Assist with performing screenings and treatments by gathering and updating information related to health maintenance, identifying medication changes, updating allergy information, collecting specimens, performing tests and documenting patient care. Monitor and communicate changes in patient condition. Administer specific medications under the direction of the provider. Maintain equipment, medical supplies and examination areas. Perform administrative/clerical duties, such as filing, reception, scheduling, data entry and patient registration. Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: Graduate from an approved Medical Assisting Program OR military training as a Hospital Corpsman (HM), Combat Medic (68W) or Medical Service Technician (4N0X1) Completion of a clinical externship OR extensive clinical experience Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross upon or within new hire period Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: Medical Assisting Certification Successful completion of a Cleveland Clinic externship One year experience as a Medical Assistant Admin experience Epic experience Physical Requirements: Manual dexterity to operate office equipment. May require extended periods of standing, walking or sitting. Good visual acuity through normal or corrected vision. Light Work - Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly (Constantly: activity or condition exists 2/3 or more of the time) to move objects. Even though the weight lifted may be only a negligible amount, a job should be rated Light Work: (1) when it requires walking or standing to a significant degree; or (2) when it requires sitting most of the time but entails pushing and/or pulling of arm or leg controls; and/or (3) when the job requires working at a production rate pace entailing the constant pushing and/or pulling of materials even though the weight of those materials is negligible. Note: The constant stress and strain of maintaining a production rate pace, especially in an industrial setting, can be and is physically demanding of a worker even though the amount of force exerted is negligible.
