POSITION SUMMARY What you’ll be doing: We are hiring a Medical Assistant to assist our providers with exams, procedures and other processes to meet the specific needs of our patients, including but not limited to: Triaging patients, measuring vitals, and recording information on patients’ charts Blood draws, venipuncture, specimen collection, and completion of lab work Administering medications and immunizations under provider direction Setting up procedures as instructed by provider Preparing treatment rooms for examinations and bringing patients from the waiting room to exam rooms What you’ll bring to the table: Graduation from a Medical Assistant, EMT, Paramedic, or other relevant program, OR an active Registered Medical Assistant or Certified Medical Assistant designation, OR 6 months of experience in a relevant environment. We’d also prefer if you have prior recent experience in a healthcare setting, such as an emergency department, urgent care, or other ambulatory clinic. MEDICAL ASSISTANT II - Internal Medicine - Kenwood - Full Time Days

Job Description Primary duties will be scheduler front office with MA duties when needed. Assists in examination and treatment of patients under direction of physician. Responsibilities Scheduler duties with MA duties. Maintains patient flow during clinic hours. Documents review of systems; measures vital signs such as pulse rate, respirations, blood pressure, weight and height (see Appendix A for specifics); updates past and current medical, social and family history; reviews medications and updates medication list at each visit. Correctly records patient information in the electronic medical record (EMR). May assist in training of new employees. Prepares patient charts in EMR for visits by scanning, abstracting, and reviewing to make certain that all diagnostic test results, hospital reports and other medical records necessary to help the physician care for the patient are in the patient’s chart. Accesses and navigates websites or calls outside facilities to obtain necessary information. May act as Super User for Electronic Medical Record. Refills medications and pre-authorizes medications including communicating with the patient, pharmacy, or insurance company as needed to complete the task. Maintains recording of patient samples and other medications and disposes expired medications. Prepares treatment rooms for examination of patients; maintains clean, fully supplied exam rooms. Orders medical supplies as needed. Completes patient assistance paperwork/requests as needed. Obtains pertinent medical information from patients to facilitate medical decision making per specific office protocol procedures. Returns calls as needed. Responds to MyChart as needed. Works in-baskets, daily work flow logs, and work queues in EMR/Practice Management system. May coordinate/oversee work queues in office. Answers incoming calls, schedules appointments, checks-in and out patients, and completes pre-certifications for prescriptions, procedures, and surgeries as needed. Operates EKG, cardiac monitors, and other equipment to administer routine diagnostic tests as needed and other clinical duties such as phlebotomy and cast removal as assigned. Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following and enforcing standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations. Maintains patient confidence and protect operations by keeping patient care information confidential. Understands and adheres to the legal responsibilities and requirements with the medical assistant role. Demonstrates comprehension and support of quality measures and patient experience. Qualifications KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS: Please describe any specialized knowledge or skills, which are REQUIRED to perform the position duties. YEARS OF EXPERIENCE: 2 to 5 years MA or other relevant experience preferred; Practice in different care settings (eg. Primary care, Specialty, EMT, etc.). REQUIRED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE: Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Outlook, Excel, EMR and scheduling systems) required. Strong verbal and social skills to facilitate working respectfully with patients, physicians, visitors, co-workers, and drug reps in person or by telephone required. Ability and willingness to travel to other physician offices as requested or needed. Complementary clinical skills such as phlebotomy, performing EKGs, stiches removal, splinting, etc. are highly preferred. LICENSES & CERTIFICATIONS Certified/Registered MA preferred. Must successfully complete skills orientation. BLS certification required.

Overview POSITION SUMMARY: The Certified Medical Assistant Care Guide is responsible for registering, collecting payments, rooming, assisting the provider with care and treatment, discharging, and following-up with patients. It is the role of the Care Guide to companion patients and their “secondary guests” through the entire experience to maximize clinical excellence, reduce treatment times, and maximize the patient experience; before, during, and after the patient visit. Qualifications REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Education: High school diploma/GED and completion of a medical assistant (MA) program, certification course, or equivalent MA training/experience. Licensure/ Certification: CMA-Certified Medical Assistant current certification by one the following approved certifying agencies : American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), earning CMA credential. American Medical Technologists (AMT), earning RMA credential. National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT), earning NCMA credential. National HealthCare Association (NHA), earning CCMA credential. American Heart Association (BLS for Health Care Providers) to be completed within 2 weeks of hire date. National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP). American Allied Health (AAH). PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Experience: Previous experience as a medical office assistant or CNA or equivalent, previous experience with an electronic health record and phlebotomy. Other Skills/ Knowledge: Knowledge of medical terminology. Knowledge of Epic. Exceptional customer service and phone etiquette.
