Candidates must be in possession of a license and current registration as a registered professional nurse in New York State; 3 years of post-licensure clinical nursing experience; 1 year of this experience must have been primarily working in the development, implementation, or administration of an infection control program. A bachelor's degree in nursing can substitute for one year of post-licensure clinical nursing experience; a master’s degree in nursing can substitute for two years of post-licensure clinical nursing experience; and possession of a current Certified in Infection Control (CIC) certificate issued by the Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology can substitute for the one year of infection control program experience. OR Candidates from within State service may be considered for transfer to a competitive class position if they have one year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service in a title eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law. JOB DESCRIPTION " POSITION SUMMARY The RN Utilization Management is responsible for the overall Utilization Management process for assigned patient population. This position ensures that the obligation for clinical review is met according to the payer contracts and validates the accuracy of insurance information in the system. The RN is knowledgeable of the payer contracting arrangements, admission notification and clinical review requirements, as well as the regulatory and compliance requirements for government payers regarding clinical reviews and medical necessity. This role ensures that appropriate and accurate information is placed into the patient accounting system to result in clean, compliant, and timely claim processing.
