Job Summary Operating Room Nurse Flow Manager 36 hr Rotating As manager of the Operating Room Schedule, the Operating Room Flow Manager has direct responsibility for maximizing the efficiency of patient flow, controlling the transfer of patients for surgery. As part of the management team, time will be spent directing and monitoring patient flow in the extremely complex, high patient volume Operating Room setting with 46 operating rooms, 27,000 cases and over $50,000,000 in revenues per year). This position is the key controller, facilitator, and integrator of the effectiveness and efficiency with which the daily dynamic schedule functions. The OR Flow Manager works in collaboration with the anesthesia floor leader, nursing management, surgeons, and co-leaders in determining, through critical judgment and decision-making, that optimum utilization is attained and maintained. You will also provide care coordination, medication adherence support, health education, and behavioral risk reduction counseling for HIV primary care patients. This role offers a unique opportunity to promote harm reduction, linkage, and retention to HIV primary care, with the aim of supporting people experiencing homelessness and living with HIV to achieve and sustain health and wellness. This position is funded until the end of March 2028 with the possibility for renewal. If this funding is not renewed, this position will end March 31, 2028. Responsibilities: Provides outpatient primary care nursing including medical assessments and triage services for HIV team patients coming in for same-day or scheduled visits; conducts virtual, telephonic, or in-person nurse assessment and triage to assess the severity of the patient’s health concerns using approved protocols and resources to advise appropriately. Documents patient information accurately and in a timely manner in the EHR. Implements the patient-centered plan of care, evaluates outcomes, and regularly communicates the plan of care, patient status, and progress toward goals with the patient and care team members; conducts intake assessments for new HIV team patients and facilitates rapid linkages to medical providers. Administers vaccines, injectable medications (including long-acting injectable medications for HIV), inhaled respiratory therapies (e.g. nebulized therapies) and provides wound assessment and wound care as indicated; provides medication adherence assessments and counseling, and when directed, delivers directly observed therapy. Provides chronic disease management support for HIV as well as other common co-morbid medical conditions such as diabetes and hypertension. Coordinates care with integrated HIV team behavioral health staff.
