Job Description We are searching for an Inpatient Staff Nurse -- someone who works well in a fast-paced setting. In this position, you will provide nursing care to patients by assessing, planning, educating, implementing, and evaluating age-appropriate care that incorporates family-centered principles and cost-effective care. What qualifications you will need: PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS Applicable to all hospitals in the Austin market, unless specifically noted for select facilities. All seasonal staff are required to work a minimum of 72 hours per pay period during the seasonal period. Regardless of start date, seasonal program/assignment ends on March 31, 2027. Within a close geography, you may be asked to float to another facility that has an emergent staffing need. Four (4) weekend shifts are required each 4 week schedule period. During the course of the 32-week period, the employee is required to work two (2) holiday shifts (defined by Department Manager or designee), if holidays fall during their temporary assignment period. Seasonal Staff are TEMPORARY status employees and are subject to first call-off. There are no guaranteed hours by the hospital. Seasonal Staff will not be eligible for benefits. Registered Nurses who are in the Seasonal program will have one opportunity to pass the clinical competency evaluation. Current FT/PT & PRN employees are not eligible to join the Seasonal program. Responsibilities Obtain patient vitals, medical history, and reason for visit, and prepare the patient for a physical exam Explain prescribed procedures and treatments to patients Ensure all ordered tests are performed accurately and in a timely manner Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with the approved procedure Draw blood and preparation labs for reference lab processing and/or in-house processing Perform laboratory tests, lab-quality controls, and equipment maintenance according to written instructions Respond to all lab messages and call back requests Perform all drug screening procedures in accordance with established rules and regulations Ensure patient immunizations are well documented and administered in accordance with the approved procedure Conduct physician referrals as well as service pre-certifications on an as-needed basis Prepare exam rooms; sterilize instruments, equipment, and supplies for procedures Maintain complete and accurate documentation Other duties and responsibilities as assigned Qualifications Associates degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. AMT registered and AAMA Certified Medical Assistants are preferred.
