AHA Basic Life Support for healthcare workers certification required. Other advanced life support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies. High school diploma or equivalent required. Graduation from a Medical Assistant program required. Current certification in medical assisting required from America Association of Medical Assistants (CMA), American Medical Technologists (RMA), National Health Career Association (CCMA), National Center for competency Testing (NCMA), and/or American Medical Certification Association (CMAC). Knowledge of OSHA, CLIA, and ADA required. Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding required. TB validated (to administer or read) or validation obtained within 6 months of hire preferred. Job Description: The Medical Assistant provides direct services to members and performs various office and clinical duties to keep our healthcare practice running efficiently. Responsibilities: Answers phone calls and greet patients as they enter the facility Assists the nurse and office manager in maintaining the medical inventory and placing orders for new materials as needed. Administer professional services such as: catheterization, tube feedings, suction, applying and changing dressings/bandages, packs, colostomy, and drainage bags, taking blood, giving massages and range of motion exercises, etc., as required. Monitor your assigned personnel to ensure that they are following established safety regulations in the use of equipment and supplies. Maintain confidentiality of all resident care information including protected health information. Report known or suspected incidents of unauthorized disclosure of such information. Ensure that all nursing care is provided in privacy and that nursing service personnel knock before entering the resident’s room. Provide IV & IV site care as needed.
