In the Cardiovascular Short Stay Unit, patients recover from conscious sedation procedures such as cardiac catheterizations and electrophysiology interventions, typically requiring less than a 23-hour stay with telemetry monitoring as needed. The unit also prepares patients for kidney, liver, heart, and lung transplants. In the Post Anesthesia Care Unit/Cardiac Accelerated Recovery Unit, patients recover from general anesthesia following cardiac, thoracic, vascular, and electrophysiology procedures. A caregiver in this position works 12-hour day/night shifts| 7:00am—7:30pm and 7:00pm—7:30am| every four weeks, w/Saturday rotation (approx. every eight weeks). Trauma and Emergency General Surgery Advanced Practice Provider (APP) Position Overview: The Trauma and Emergency General Surgery Advanced Practice Provider (APP) delivers direct patient care consistent with the APP’s education, experience, and certification, in collaboration with the attending Trauma and Emergency General Surgery physicians. This includes the diagnosis, management, and referral of health care issues specific to Trauma and Emergency General Surgery (EGS). The APP will complete pre- and post-surgical management and recognize options for non-surgical management of trauma, EGS, and critically ill patients. Key Responsibilities Collaborate with Trauma/EGS attending physicians, general surgery residents, and APPs to complete daily rounds on the trauma and surgical floors and in the intensive care unit (ICU). Respond to Emergency Department (ED) consults for EGS, collecting data and interpreting laboratory and imaging results to develop and document assessments and care plans. Perform bedside procedures for both surgical and non-surgical patients Work with the team to complete timely documentation and carry out care plans effectively. Partner with Trauma/EGS APPs, Trauma/EGS attendings, surgical residents, nursing, physical, occupational and speech therapies, social work and case management to develop disposition plans with a multidisciplinary team approach. Document in patients’ medical records Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: Graduate from an accredited School of Professional Nursing Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) OR the American Red Cross New grad or less than one year RN work experience or if experience RN moving from non-inpatient to acute direct care clinical inpatient setting with less than one year current acute direct patient care RN experience. Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: Bachelor of science in nursing (BSN) Physical Requirements: Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patient, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination. Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range. Requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours. Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids. Medium Work – Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
