Patients in this unit range in age from young adult to geriatric , however, the most common patient population is approximately 65 years old. Some of the primary procedures performed on this unit include partial nephrectomy, radical nephrectomy, radical prostatectomy, urolithiasis, and cystectomy with continent/incontinent urinary diversion. A caregiver in this position works nights| 7:00pm—7:30am. As part of the Harrington Heart and Vascular Institute and Neurological Institute, Lerner Tower 7 is proud to be the designated unit caring for patients with vascular, cardiac and neurological diseases. All 30 of our beds are capable of providing continuous cardiac monitoring and nurses are trained to interpret and monitor the cardiac rhythms (telemetry). Some of the common patient diagnoses include post-carotid endarterectomy, post-carotid artery stenting, post-cardiac catheterization, chest pain, CHF, aneurysm, stroke, ALS and autonomic disorders.
