Heart and Rhythm Advanced Practice Professional JOB DESCRIPTION: Griffin Hospital is seeking a full-time Advanced Practice Professional (APP) to support the medical and surgical services, outpatient practice, and hospital-based cardiology and electrophysiology teams. This role will also include responsibilities in the stress lab, CCTA, Cardiac MRI’s, Hospital Consults and H&P’s for Cardiac Electrophysiology surgeries. The Advanced Practice Professional must possess the clinical skills necessary for the comprehensive management of cardiology and electrophysiology patients, including physiological, social, and psychological assessments. The APP will collaborate with the hospital cardiology and electrophysiology teams to develop and implement individualized treatment plans for both inpatient and outpatient care. Writing H&P’s for Electrophysiology surgeries and assisting in consultations. Additionally, the APP will function as stress lab coverage, CCTA coverage and cardiac MRI coverage. As well as remote patient monitoring. Clinical responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Managing implantable cardiac devices (pacemakers, defibrillators, and loop recorders) in the inpatient setting. Providing comprehensive care for patients with arrhythmias, including anti-arrhythmic drug therapy and anticoagulation management. Supporting the hospital cardiology and electrophysiology teams by assisting with inpatient consultations, care coordination, and management of hospitalized patients. Participating in stress lab procedures Remote patient monitoring EDUCATION & REQUIREMENTS: Must hold an active CT APRN or PA license. CT Controlled Substance and DEA registration required. Required licensure to operate a motor vehicle in the state of practice with access to a vehicle for business travel with proof of liability insurance. Basic knowledge of computer operating systems and software applications with the abilityn self-evaluation for annual appraisal and jointly sets professional growth goals with nurse manager. to apply knowledge in the effective use of nursing technology tools to communicate and document care provided. Physical Demand Requirements Ability to lift up to 50 pounds with a maximum lifting of 75 pounds. Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, or up to 10 pounds of force frequently. Physical demands may involve walking, standing, crouching, kneeling, turning, pivoting, balancing, stooping, reaching overhead, grasping, pushing, pulling, lifting and carrying. Fine motor skills and visual acuity required by this job include ability to see up close and from a distance, color and peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. Team members in this job classification have the likelihood of occupational exposure to blood, body fluids and other potentially infectious materials. Possible exposure to hazardous substances with possible effect on reproduction, injury from needles, other sharps, fumes, chemicals, humidity, cold, heat, adverse weather elements, animals, secondhand smoke/vape and unpredictable home environments. Safety requirements include closed toe-shoes, facemask, goggles, gown and/or gloves and functioning device for communication in both routine and emergency situations. Responsibilities Develop and implement a plan of care and demonstrate leadership to ensure all patient/family needs are met. Monitor patients before, during and after surgery and /or procedures to provide safe, efficient care. Evaluate the plan of care and the patient's responses: reassess and revise the plan based upon changing needs and priorities. Demonstrate the skill and judgment necessary to implement Physician's orders, nursing interventions and procedures as necessary for the care of the patient. Maintain up to date and accurate documentation of nursing care provided to insure the integration of information for use by the health care team and to insure the totality of quality care. Promote effective working relationships and work cooperatively as part of the department team to facilitate the department's ability to meet its goal and objectives. Contributes to Quality Improvement activities and participates in the departmental Quality Improvement Program. Responsible for own professional development to insure appropriate knowledge of advances in practice to provide state of the art treatment for patient population serviced. Perform other related duties as required. Requirements Licensed Registered Nurse in the State of Connecticut Medical/Surgical procedures experience required. Intravenous therapy experience preferred (included starting IV's) Good communication skills. Ability to work as a member of an interdisciplinary team Ability to work in a time oriented environment including exposure to all patient elements, i.e. blood borne pathogens, physical requirements; lifting and pulling of patients, pushing stretchers, standing and walking for extended periods of time wearing a lead apron. Ability to demonstrate and perform strengthening and toning exercises. Ability to interact with patients with tact and confidentiality. Graduate of an accredited Nursing Program Must have basic computer skills and ability to access internet and other programs applicable to Waterbury Hospital procedures. Perform automated functions that fall within job responsibility.
