Ensure the community’s infection control reports describe the types of infections and are used to identify trends and patterns. Assist in department budget preparation and contain expenditures within budget. Conduct and coordinate with HR Manager OSHA/Risk Management program with oversight of documentation requirements. Plan and conduct state and federally required in-service programs. Coordinate and track Relias utilization by adding new care team members as well as removing care team members who are no longer employed. Collaborates with HR Manager and Maintenance Director to provide annual OSHA required trainings. Assess and ensure there is an adequate supply of personal protective equipment (PPE) is readily available to care team members Assist in interviewing applicants and recommend hiring of staff and scheduling. Participate in orientation and in-service education training. Participate in performance reviews and personnel files; enforce the personnel policies of the community, including disciplining and terminating care team members. Assist DNS in ensuring compliance with regulations for documentation from physicians and nursing personnel and ensuring that all regional policies/procedures are implemented. Assist with care planning process. Assist with Continuous Quality Improvement and corrective follow-up actions. Follow up daily on each unit to ensure changes in status are reported and recorded and that services are provided. Multi Specialty Critical Care Unit: Multi-Specialty Critical Care (MSCC) is a 13 bed critical care unit that provides care for a medically complex patient population. Gastrointestinal bleeds, overdoses, diabetic keto acidosis, respiratory failure, renal failure, and drug/alcohol withdrawal are examples of the more common diagnoses seen on this unit. Many of the patients of MSCC have comorbidities that complicate their course of treatment, which causes the nursing team to collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to provide the best possible care and support. NCC is a 33-bed unit with a widely diverse neurosurgical, neurotrauma, neuroradiology, and medical neurological patient population, and is one of the largest neurocritical care units in the country. NCC staff care for some of the highest acuity neuro patients in the state and has the highest number of patient days in all the IUH Adult Academic Health Center. Nursing skills gained on this unit: Excellent assessment skills Critical thinking Effective patient and team member communication Time management Prioritization of care Training for use of specialized equipment Assistance in bedside procedures Unit Culture/Successes/Highlights: Focus on the reduction of patient harm events Great teamwork amongst the MSCC staff Beacon award winner – recognized by the American Association of Critical Care Nursing for Quality and Practices Qualifications: Requires an Associates of Nursing (ASN); Bachelor of Nursing (BSN) preferred. Requires an active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Indiana or an active Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) RN license. Education: The Registered Nurse (RN) must have graduated from a nationally accredited nursing program. Exceptions: Candidates who have not graduated from a nationally accredited program may be considered if they possess more than two years of acute care experience. Such exceptions are subject to review and approval by the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO). Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA.
