Job Overview Fairview is looking for a Nursing Assistant on the Ortho Specialty Unit at our M Health Fairview Southdale Hospital in Edina, MN! This position is 56 hours every two weeks, working 8 hour evening shifts, and every other weekend. Evening shifts are from 3pm-11:30pm. About this Unit: The 3rd Floor Orthopedic Surgical Specialty unit at M Health Fairview Southdale Hospital is a newly built, 26-bed adult medical/surgical unit focused on total joint replacement and post-operative recovery. Staff also care for a variety of medical patients, offering broad exposure to different diagnoses and care needs. With a healthy, team-oriented work environment and strong support from leadership and education specialists, this unit is ideal for those who thrive in collaborative, fast-paced settings and are eager to grow their skills in orthopedic care. Responsibilities: The Nursing Assistant is responsible for assisting the professional nurse/caregiver in the delivery of patient care, transporting patient and/or equipment, setting up and maintaining patient rooms, and the reordering and stocking of supplies. The Nursing Assistant does not work autonomously but works under the direction of a professional nurse. The Nursing Assistant may be given a patient care assignment based on unit needs and the discretion of the manager/charge nurse. Provides basic patient care by performing routine duties to include: Partners with patient care giver in care/decision making. Personal grooming, bathing, toileting, Feeding, Skin care needs (clean and sterile dressing changes), applying ointments/creams, Oral hygiene, Specimen collection/testing, Position/ambulating, Changing linens, Promptly answers call lights. Assists nurse in monitoring patient condition. Accurately takes and records weights, input/output, blood pressure, temperature, pulse rates, respiration, oxygen saturation. Job Overview The Endoscopy RN manages the care of the adult or older patient beginning with the pre-procedure assessment, IV start, and education followed by procedural conscious sedation and monitoring, specimen collection and hands on assistance during the procedure.
